Default Locked out of car

I didn't think it was possible but I locked myself out of my 09 Z. I went to play golf after work and threw some shorts on in the parking lot and left the key FOB in my jeans by mistake and closed the hatch. I then realized were the FOB was but wasn't to concerned until I tried the door handle and got the solid red light . Had to call the wife to come and get me and get the 2nd FOB at home. You live and learn

Good thing you weren't 3000 miles from home.

Did some thing recently very similar. I had put my keys in my laptop/school bag, popped the hatch put bag in, closed it, went to drivers door and.... (insert 4-letter word)

Stuff like this happens. At least you had a spare set of keys to use.

I did the same thing today, but with my DD... Sometimes my genius amazes me, at least I'm not alone.... mistakes happen, I'm just not the one whose supposed to be making them .

Did you try opening the rear hatch again? I did the same thing at work one day, but fortunately the FOB was close enough to the rear antenna that the rear hatch still opened.

When i was rebuilding the heads of my car i disconnected the battery. Somehow the car got closed an locked. Lucky i had a key to open trunk but i cannot fit over the waterfall as there is a big speaker box there. I had to get my 8 yo daughter to climb into cars cab an manually open the driver door. LOL

When I left the fob inside the car one time, closed the door, the horn sounded twice to let me know the fob is inside, and the door would not lock.

That's strange, my fob has to be pretty far away to not connect. I can leave it in the hatch and open to doors.

Hell don't feel bad, I locked myself IN the car once..... The day I picked the car up from the transport company. My first vette, and only sat in a C6 a couple of times before that. There I am, sitting in the car, looking real brilliant I'm sure, trying to figure out how in the hell to open the door.... The door button didn't do anything, as the car was locked. About ten minutes later, I found the manual door release about the same time I was going to crawl out the window.

I have also locked the fob in the car a few times, but luckily enough, the window was down. I had the fob in the cup holder, while working on the car. Weak battery is the culprit. I changed the battery, and that resolved that little issue. Pretty much destroyed the fob getting the battery out though.....

Now that I've confused my idiocy, don't you feel better??

Did this a couple years ago and OnStar opened it for me in 3-4 minutes.

I did the same thing when I had my coupe. Opened the hatch, tossed some stuff in and shut the hatch. Sadly, one of the things I tossed in was my jacket with my keys in the pocket. I even had to borrow a cell phone to call my husband to come get me since the cell was also in the car.

I HATE when that happens very frustrating.

Solution: Simply carry the key that opens up the back hatch with your other keys and your good to go.

Evidently you are not aware of the manual door unlock in the trunk area - no need to crawl into the rear hatch area. The door latch is on top of the rear window well on the driver's side.

That will work if the fob is detected inside the car, but there is a dead spot in the trunk where the fob isn't detected. In this case, it will lock the doors even though the fob is inside the vehicle.
