[ZR1] I Finally Did The Right Thing
#22
Earlier this year, I purchased a 2012 GS M6. I bought it thinking that with time I'd do some mods: Supercharger, wheels, carbon fiber, etc. Well, I realized that I'd just be trying to make the GS a ZR1. Yesterday, I sold the GS and bought a ZR1: A 2012, 3ZR, White. VIN 0024. To say the least, I'm thrilled! Lesson of the day, buy what you want in the first place...Thanks to Jim Sell at Criswell for making it a good experience.
I did the same thing. I had a GS and drove a ZR1 at Bondurant School for 2 days and ended up buying one 6 months later.

I guess we can all hope... 57,620 for the GS, 50,450 trade = 7,170 evaporated + 5% of 57,620 (taxes) gone. 2012 ZR1 was discounted pretty well. Accountant will wonder, people may disagree but I'm 100% happy with the car. It's like taking a $10k vacation; sure, you have a lot of pictures and memories but nothing to show for it.

Thank you. Nothing planned yet. It's a heck of a car as it stands; I need to get used to it as it is right now. I'll cruize the forum to see others' mods for ideas. I'll gladly listen to suggestions from anyone wishing to chime in.

Glad I'm not the only one! The GS is fantastic, I love that car! The ZR1 is just more of an performance experience for me. Base Coupe, GS, Z06 and ZR1 all provide great experiences! Each is simply tailored to the performance desires of its owner. My best memories are still from my first; a 1998 coupe, automatic.

I agree 100%! Yeah you lost a little money in the deal but at the end of the day you got what you wanted and that is all that matters. I pretty much did the same thing you did. I bought a Grand Sport, kept it for a while, then came across a deal on a brand new ZR1 3ZR in the color I really wanted from the very beginning. I bought it and didn't look back!

That's not a horrible economic result, and now you have the car you really want. Enjoy it !
