First time at the 1/4 with the Z...feedback wanted/welcome!!
Ok guys...I took my Z out for the first time to the 1/4 mile track here in San Antonio. Weather was 95F with 70% humidity, track is at 600' above sea level and my tires (invos) are fairly worn and will be replaced tomorrow morning. Thus this was a perfect time to go "play".
Here is the breakdown:
I'm open to any pointers. I did a small burnout to clean anything off the tires, but did not go into the water. I was watching some of the fast list times and it seems like they were launching with almost no revs. I was letting the clutch out at 2500rpm (modulating it and the throttle to keep traction). Any pointers for my next trip out on how to launch the car and keep the power down? Here is a video also...Like I said, I'm looking for any feedback as I am a self proclaimed noob that wants to get better.

Sounds like the track was sticky. You bogged at launch pretty bad. Did you have traction control off? I think you could have launched at a higher rpm. Shifting sounded nice. Also, did you hit the brakes before you crossed the line? I saw brake lights, but no time on the board when the camera panned up.

Traction control was off and the car was in competitve driving mode. I'm not sure why the time didn't show on the board but I didn't break until after the line. I really need to practice my launch as I bounced between bogging or spinning.

You're on the right path for the launch. As you learn the throttle and clutch release sequence to not bog or spin, you can then increase RPM and the clutch speed. The key is in the launch and that just takes seat time. Once you get below a 2.0 60' it starts getting fun.
The new tires will help traction. Worn Invos get pretty slippery.
Roll up that window before you run.

As others have stated, your 60 foot is hurting you. Also need to ask if you shifted into 4th before the stripe? At the speed your were running you could have crossed in 3rd. Pegging the rev limiter especially in first will not help your cause and quick shifts are needed. With these cars it appears a lot of little things done in the right sequence will give you a good time, but the cars are not very forgiving if you screw something up.
A friend of mine worked very hard to get into the 10's and learned that he needed to launch at around 5K to find the spot where the clutch just slipped a little to ensure a no bog launch. However, he always does good burnouts and runs DRs when he is running for time. These cars take some practice to get a clean run because they do behave a little different than your normal drag car...
