C6Z value drop once C7 is released???
I'm looking to buy a C6Z. But I'm a little hesitant about the value dropping drastically because of the soon to be released C7. How much do u think C6Z will sale for once the C7 is released?

If you are worried about the value of a vehicle declining, then don't purchase one. Noone knows the specifics of the C7 yet, so noone can say for sure.
7 pages of speculation coming soon.........

Right now you can figure on a 10k hit off of your purchase price the first year you own it. After that, almost 5k per year until it start to slow down after 4 years. New cars are not an investment. Who knows after the C7 comes out.

Oh I can't wait for the value to drop on C6 Z06's. Sooner the better!

The other is the first year of any new body style most dealers will ask MSRP or many will want over. This will cause more people then not to hold on to their cars, thus keeping the current market more stable then not. Look at the reason the market has been the way it is, MSRP is getting crazy high on new Z06's, the production numbers are super low. This creates a stable market or hard to replace vehicle once sold. I think it will take a few years for the market to catch up with the low production numbers. For proof just look at the C5 Z06's, low mileage examples are still selling for $30,000 give or take, 2002's with 40,000 miles still bring $23,000 give or take.

Your not going to see a big drop. First off the C7 will not be a Z06, LS7 505hp, chassis, brakes, etc. I'm sure it will be a great car but still will not be a Z06. Let the C7 get a few years of bugs worked out, production numbers to increase, then.....

That will put the 2006 C6Z at about $34,000 in 3 years time. In fact, some cars are already in this range.
No getting away from the reality, used cars values go down.

You should be hesitant. The c6 z06 has believe it or not increased in value over the past year or so. They were cheaper a couple of years back. However ever since the grand sport used z's have jumped in value because there arent as many on the market as there would have been without the intro of the GS. For example almost 2 years ago I had the opportunity to buy a 2006 loaded Z with 36k on the odo for only 36 grand. Today that same car mind you it is now 2 years older will command around 40k.

You don't say if your looking new or used. If you pick a nice used one, a big chunk of that depreciation is gone. A 40k Z will still be worth 33-35k in a couple of years. So if depreciation is a big concern for you, look for a good USED example. Good luck.

If you are worried about depreciation you should buy a nice midyear or solid axle. As others have said, a new car is the most rapidly depreciating Corvette you can buy, especially the first year of a new generation. I also agree that the Z06 has more than held it's value over the last couple of years. I paid $42,000 for my 06 Z with 2,500 miles on it, 2 years ago. I wouldn't sell it for that with the 12,000 miles it has on it now.
Bottom line: If you want the Z06 you should grab one. Life's too short to waste time waiting for a car you may not even like.

I appreciate all the feedback fellas. I am currently look for a used one. But I wanted to re-sell within a couple of years. So I was debating on waiting for the value to drop before I purchased one. I know I'll stand too lose atleast 5k once the C7 comes out.

I sold my clean 2006 with 25k miles and some nice bolt on mods 2-years ago for $40,500 and I don't see anything as nice for that money today.

Whats Few and Far between is your C6 Z06's for $34,000, maybe if its 50,000 to 70,000 miles, wrecked, prior salvage, paint work, etc. I see this every single day.
Like Brooklin said the maret on C6 Z06's has gone up anywhere bewteen $3,000 to $5,000 since last year. The market is strong on Z06's right now.
Now we all know "used car values go down" as you say but the question was when the C7 comes out will the C6 Z06's prices fall fast because of the C7?

I've got the same thought as you. I've been tracking c6z prices for the past 2 years and haven't really been able to afford one until recently. But the prices are basically the same that they were 2 years ago!
Now with the c7 coming out next year i'm wondering if it would be a bad time to buy now and just wait another year. But... in all honesty i don't think you'll see much of a drop. Maybe a $5k drop but no more than that.
So i'm still looking to buy. But i'm not going to pay more than $40k for a freakin 06 or 07 model. No way.... If i can't find what i want then i'll just get a Boss 302 and get a Z06 later.

There is a lot of speculation and strong hints from insiders at GM that the C7 cars will have smaller displacement engines. For me personally, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to own a 427 Corvette. It's hard to say how this could affect prices for the C6 Z06, but in the future, anyone wanting 427 Z06 is going to have a buy a car from one of us. I won't sell mine cheap if I sell at all.

I would say another couple of thousand dollars in price drop is in the near future, but it will likely stop there. Don't expect to find a C6 Z06 for less than $30k in the next 10 years, especially with the 427ci being one of the final big blocks that will likely be produced for a long time. The "novelty item" status will help it hold over $30k no matter what IMO, $35k-$45k is where it will remain

Price will remain stable and eventually go up as the 7.0/505 will be history. There is no substitute for cu-in and nothing with that kind of displacement will be offered again. Those Z06's demanding and getting the high price will need to be UN-modded, clean, with low miles.

Its True, as much as one might love the Z06 the reality is they can be bought at about Mid to High 30's as we speak, 06-07 models with 50K. As time goes on it will go lower, when the 07 drops the prices WILL BE in the LOW 30's ... Anytime a new model is released the Value of the previous one drops.
