I'd be willing to bet the switch to the ZR1 mufflers, which started in 2011, is the biggest reason a 2011 might be louder. Just to add more confusion, for 2012, two more cats were added to the x pipe, which will reduce noise compared to the 2011.
2LZ Z06s do not have power passenger seat.

The additional cats are found on the ZR1 I thought???

Well, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2011 located on the East coast but need to take the wifey on a test drive to see how/if she'll like riding in a z06 in general. The only Z06 close to me is an 08... So just wondering if it's noisey maybe I can convince her that the 11 is newer and will be a nicer ride. She also wants to test drive a GTR and compare the two, of course comfortability wise sine she'll be passenger.
No, you can't drive.

Thanks, next step is trying to funnel a GTR through my friend's dealer due to the type of loan I have and what's on the GTR's title. Another weird situation I tell ya.
Thanks for the offer, I'm in California. We went to a dealer and drove an 08, she (to my suprise) didn't mind it too much but of course likes the GTR better saying it's more practical which I guess it is. What didn't make sense is she said the Z06 seemed to be more roomy inside, but I think that's because her seat in the GTR was adjusted all the way forward so the dealer guy could ride in the back during the test drive.

To the OP get the newest Z06 that you can afford. If you can comfortably afford getting a 2011 C6 Z then its a no brainer, GET THE 2011 Model Z06.

My wife said if I got an automatic, she might like to drive it at times too, so in 98 I got an auto coupe C5. She drove it ONCE, and almost hit the garage door pulling in, and never drove it again. I took a high performance driving school with Z06s in 2001, which led to getting an 02 Z06 and multiple track days, and have been hooked. Currently have an 08 Z06.
If the wife really likes high performance cars and accepts the ride quality (not mine), then you have a challenge since Z06s are all manual. I would get the Grand Sport with paddle shift as a fall back instead of the GTR, if the wife REALLY will be driving it.
