Help!
I'm sorry for replying something completely on related but this is driving me up a wall! How the hell do you post your own thread!?!?!?!?!? It may sound dumb but I can't figure it out.

First click a section...Z06, ZR1, General or any other section. near the top right of the page just under the page numbers is "forum tools", click it and go from there...

it really doesnt matter what year you get if your gonna mod it...like taking out f55 suspension, and whatever else. what you plan on doing does nothing for the comfort, noise ect. your concerened about. i would just find a clean low mile car to start with.

F55 is the magnetic selective ride control ("MSRC") suspension option. Like Erik says, don't pay for it if you're going to take it out.
It's standard on the ZR1, the Z06 w/Z07 option, and the new 427 'vert.

Just got back from driving the GTR and I just screwed myself. Now I have to come to a decision on which one I want because I am now thinking of the GTR myself. Thing is sick.
What I like about it over the Z06 is that it has rear seats, seems to be quieter, more gadgets and gizmos (both good and bad, looks like a damn airplane cockpit), and nicer quality interior. But the front is still
Oh, and on the test drive as we were getting onto the freeway I entered right next to a lowered red C6 Z06 - WTF. I kept thinking, is this some sort of sign?

Have you considered maintenance costs between the two? I hear the GTR is very pricey for just regular maintenance stuff...just a thought! Good luck with your search and decision!

I agree the F55 rides nicer, but my 08Z had 14,000 miles put on it by me and I always thought it was a bit tough especially the rear. Over the years I have read the 08's were tight as reviewed by others. I would have to see the part#'s for the 08 as opposed to the 11 to believe it because the 11's rode much nicer. Spring rates and shock valving can't be the same.

I hope your wife understands that it is not meant to be a luxury car despite all of the creature comforts commonly found on them. It rides like a performance car (a little harsh) when stock unless you put in the magnetic (F55) selective ride control - it has a softer setting.
That said, I added the DRM Bilsteins late last year and I don't use Runflats (Nitto Invos). Had the opportunity to run around for the last couple of days in my mother-in-law's 2001 coupe. Still has the runflats and only has about 53K miles on it. And I'll tell you what, my Z06 has a better ride quality than her coupe.
Oh, and despite being modified to over 600HP, my wife can drive it perfectly fine with this LS9X clutch in it. She's still a bit intimidated by the power, but no longer fears the car (unless I'm the one driving ).

2LZ Z06s do not have power passenger seat.

That is still on my mind even though I talked to a couple of friends with GTRs and they say it's over hyped. Over course it's all on the driver on how often you need to change things; brakes, fluids, etc.

The tires and road surface play a big part in the noise dept. Old GY runflats and a a noisy road exacerbate the the problem so you can't hear the radio or a passenger. Michelin PS2s and a great road makes a big difference.

I'd be willing to bet the switch to the ZR1 mufflers, which started in 2011, is the biggest reason a 2011 might be louder. Just to add more confusion, for 2012, two more cats were added to the x pipe, which will reduce noise compared to the 2011.

The 2012 online ordering guide says that only the 3LZ has power passenger seat, but I've seen those things have misprints before.
