Here's what I was quoted for a 2009 Z06. This is for a genuine GMPP Major Guard plan. I bought the three year/36000 mile, $0 deductible option.

3YR/36,000 MILE

$0 DEDUCTIBLE $1150
$100 DEDUCTIBLE $1060

4YR/48,000 MILE
$0 DEDUCTIBLE $1505
$100 DEDUCTIBLE $1330

That's about how much I paid for mine with Fideliy auto warranty. They also have a $2k back at the end of the term if you end up not using the warranty. Pretty cool win win in my book.

How so?

Sounds the same price as any other warranty, except they get an interest free $2,000.00 loan from you to go along with the fee for the warranty.

If you use the warranty, they don't have to pay back the loan. Indeed they can use part of that 2 grand to cover whatever it was that broke on the car.

So in effect, the warranty would have cost you 3-4 grand as opposed to about 1500-1750 for the GM Major guard or Vehicle 1.

Who are some dependable aftermarket warranties? Seems I have heard a lot of bad stories on aftermarket warranties. I have a 07 that I would like to warranty for if there are some good ones. Thanks.

I recorded my conversation with the warranty companies. This is how you negotiate with them.

This topic comes up often, and my response is always the same. Check with your intended repair facilities for acceptance of these policies, before buyng any of them. GMPP's accepted anywhere, but not availible for an 06' now. Got a GMPP $0 ded 6yr/48K mi from Fichtner when my car was one year old for $1200 bucks. That's 6yr/48K mi more, from the day I bought the policy. I could have gone longer mi for more money, but no way I'll be putting that kind of milage on this car. Recently got an extra 48mo/60K mi GMPP for my daily Pontiac from Dennis, 3 days before the 36mo age, and was also $1200 bucks. I really think this is the only way to go, but it has to be within the first 36mo/36K mi window.

Can you get a GMPP for a Z that's out of warranty? I have a 2007Z that's 5 1/2 years old.

It is not available once out of factory warranty unless the car was purchased certified used and it still under that extension of the bumper to bumper. In rare instances we have been able to get a GMPP on a car that's out of warranty if the customer has been servicing the car at the dealership and we have a good relationship with them.

Vehicle 1 is the best option for cars that are out of the bumper to bumper.

Vehicle 1 can't warranty a car that's out of warranty. Any other options for a car out of warranty? I guess
Fidelity can.

Yup, I did actually end up using it...and it was taken to RichieRich and repaired without any problems. They completely replaced my T56 tranny with a brand new one and covered everything else. The total bill was a lot higher than what I paid for the entire warranty to begin with, so it's a win in my book.

I actually also did have the GMPP (Came with my car), but I decided to cash that one out and go with the Fidelity one. One advantage is that you don't have to deal with GM directly....so it can come in handy for people who choose not to keep their cars stock. You can also take your car to any performance shop or any other garage that you wish to perform the repairs. True, I don't get back that $2k now....but who cares when my total warranty cost was way higher than what I paid for the warranty...and I'm still fully covered.

Again, just throwing out options that others might not know about. Not trying to bash GMPP.

I'm also looking at a Fidelity policy even though my car was out of warranty. Bumper to bumper, 4/48 was only $2285.

For me that was around $3,200. Can you share what year and miles you have?

Edit:

Saw this on your profiles: "07' Z06, Victory Red, Vararam VR-SC1R, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold by Carlos, American Racing headers and tune by Carmen. Hotchkis front and rear sway bars. Pfadt adjustable shocks, Nitto tires."

Are you worried about getting a warranty repair authorized with these mods?

Hate to bump this from the dead but I am looking at buying an 07 and want to get some type of warranty on it. For those that got Fidelity, did you do it through the dealer or just call them directly? I see on a particular website they mention buying the packages through a dealer:

http://www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com/

Is that the correct place or is it this one?

http://www.fidelityautomotivesolutio...uto%20warranty

"Fidelity Warranty" has horrible consumer feedback from what I can tell: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/auto_.../fidelity.html and Fidelity Automotive Solutions claims they cannot cover a Z06.

I bought the GMPP from Fitchner Chevrolet Major Guard for 48 months, 32k miles, 0 deductible for $980.00.

3-4k, you got to be kidding me.
