[Z06] Very high Oil PSI *Update*

Very high Oil PSI *Update*
So all this started with me taking the car to chevy for an oil change.
Next night i noticed the oil psi high (75) at around 4k rpm
Next day i pushed the car past 5k rpm and the psi was hitting 100 and was killing power in my car.
Took it to the dealer, THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG
I took the tech to the car. Revved it up to 3.8rpm and the psi went up to 75-80 . His response was that its normal. I told him lets go around the block and ill hit 4k rpm or 5k rpm and it will go to 100. Your telling me thats normal? So i cant push my car anymore after this day?
Very firmly told them the car is messed up after the oil change. They say its not the oil filter or too much oil.
Now im pissed and they better do something about it.

I really don't think you have an issue. I run heavier weight oil for the track, but I normally saw 100 psi oil pressures when the oil was not fully warmed. Once at normal operating temps, it would be 10 psi per thousand rpm's. i.e. 7,000 RPM's = 70 to 75 psi.
What do others see?

That PSI is not abnormal when the oil is cold (cold oil = very high viscosity = very poor flow = very high resistance = a high PSI reading on your gauge).
However, if the oil is WARM - above 150* or so - then I would agree that your readings are off and should be closer to the 10 PSI per thousand rule. I would first suspect the weight of oil before anything else (is it actually 5W30 synthetic?)

You haven't reported back whether you actually checked the oil level. Even in your old thread. Check the level and let us know. Also, I presume these high psi reading are after the oil is warm bc you said the dealer is 2 hrs away and yesterday, you were at the drag strip. 70+ psi when oil is hot, is not right. I agree. But we need stats on oil level first.

I'd replace the oil filter right now.

Oil level was correct
The dealership called me back and told me theyre going to do another oil change and put a new filter.
Ill keep you guys posted
To who ever said it might be normal, i assure you that it isnt. Since 2003 till today we've had 5 total corvettes (3 z06s) and none ever had this problem. Just in a stop at 4k rpm the oil hits around 85 psi warmed up.
I called a few shops, one guy said hes 100% sure its the oil sender. Thats what i will push next. One other shop told me to call the district manager if they play games with me

What weight oil and what was the oil temp?
Honestly it isn't out of the range for a Z06/ZR1.
I have seen the cars 48-65 psi at idle cold, and will make 70-80 by 2500, and in a few rare cases hit 110 psi by 4000 RPM cold (80-100 degree oil temp).
I have seen them on the warmer side 190-220 oil temp at idle 30-42 and 50-70 psi by 4000 RPM.
Off the track at 230-250 oil temp, down to 18-25 psi at idle and no more than 50-60 by 4000 RPM.
My 2008 Z is on the lower side...idle cold it will make 60-65, by 4000 RPM it will be well over 80. By the time the car gets into normal oil temp range for street driving 168-189 it will be 32-38 at idle and 60-65 by 4k rpm, and peak around 70-74 by redline.

Well it isnt normal for my car because after 5k rpm i would lose power. And it will happen 10 out of 10 times now. Its like my car cant go past 5krpm
Update.
Dealer called and said the same thing happened when they did another oil change on it. They will call the GM tomorrow from what it looks like.

let's play devils advocate, lets say they replace the OP sender and the pressures read inline with what you believe to be true, is it the fault of the oil change, did the oil kill the sender?
Now, let's discuss the power loss, what are you using to qualify the statement? Did the power loss light come on and then you notived a loss ofpower, did you get a CEL, or just seat of the pants feel w/o anything concrete to support it?

im kinda lost about what your saying..... but im not saying a simple oil change messed up the sender.
What i know to be true is the car was running strong until they did the oil change and the next night (which was the first time i got on it) i saw the psi jump more then normal.
As for power loss...... If i had to discribe it.... If you were on a dyno chart you would have seen a loss of power from 5k for sure. I was pulled back in my seat then it seemed like i lost 200 hp and was slowing down

strange....doubt the oil change caused this issue. high pressure cold is normal, not that high hot though, usually about 1/2 of cold psi. i say about, cause i dont stare and analyze my temps and psi's. kill me first...lol

Maybe the dealer is right. Maybe the oil change was performed properly. Maybe there is something else going on.
You say that you are pissed and the dealer" better do something about it".
Maybe I'm reading into your attitude but, you might tone it down when you go back to the dealer.
If I'm wrong, I apologize.
