New Battery Recommendations?
I live in upstate NY, so my 08 Z06 has been hibernating for sometime. Before I put the cover on it in November, I hooked up a battery tender, but apparently it didn't work out too well cause when I checked the car this week, the battery is shot. So, before I go out and buy a new battery, looking for any recommendations for upgrading.

This comes up often, but stick with either Autozone or Advance Auto golds myself. Their series 90's are 100% perfect fit. Best ordering online, as sometimes decent discounts this way.

hmm....lately I've had just the opposite luck. The last 2 Optimas I've
purchased have been replaced twice under warranty. For my truck
I went back to a Delco, no problem. Sometimes it's hard to beat
the factory equipment.

Try an Optima, then try something else
I have bought 3 Optimas. One I gave away. The other two were crap within 2 years. Crap = not being able to hold a charge for a week. The electrical system of my car was tested both times and found to be fine. I put in an Autozone Platinum and the problem went away. The Optimas were the problem. Why people think (and charge like) this is a premium battery baffles me.
PS: Regarding the Optima I gave away, I have learned to give people better gifts.

I'm baffled why anyone would want to connect a $19.95 Taiwanese made battery charger to a $50,000 vehicle. How reliable is that?
They may just cook the battery, or worse, start your car on fire?
Additionally, why do you want to energize the car computer systems for 5-months while it is not in use?
For winter storage, I've gone to fully charging the battery, detail the car and disconnect the negative cable.
Come spring, I reconnect the negative cable and the car starts right up! The radio presets remain, the only thing I have to do is recalibrate the windows...takes about 1-minute.
The call me the BreeZe

Optimas are not Optimas of 10 years ago. Quality is crap. I had one in my (now sold) 2006 C6 and had issues.

My oem Delco starting leaking after 4+ yrs. I never had start issues with it so I replaced it with another Delco. Every few months, I throw on my Ctek charger on it to keep the battery in a healthy state. Supposedly, the Delco batteries are known not to leak, oh well.

I'm on my 3rd Optima Red Top and 2nd Yellow top, and I've yet to have a single problem with any one of them. I'm on my 2nd brand new GM vehicle, and both batteries let go within months of purchasing the vehicle. Not to mention, after switching to a GEL cell battery, I no longer need a battery tender on my car should I ever go out of town <- which out of the 30 vehicles over multiple brands that I've owned in my life, this is the first (and not even the most technologically advanced) to have this random battery draining problem.
Bummer to hear people have had problems with Optimas since GEL batteries have alot of benefits over the Led acid batteries that were invented back in 1859 <- literally ! lol

Another vote for Autozone's Duralast Gold 90DLG. And also another comment about being disappointed with a Optima Red Top (on my C5 Z06, have an Exide Orbital in that car now). Perhaps the Yellow Top is better, but I haven't tried it.
Write up on installation if needed:

A top post battery carrying strap can be used instead of the duct tape handle.

At 6 years, it's time. Have an Autozone 90DLG in my Vette, and Advance Auto gold 90 in another car, and both look 100% identical to the original Delco. I'm in the same winter climate as you, and not wanting to be messing around with a dead battery in the middle of nowhere, at midnight. Check the store's web sites, as sometimes cheaper ordering that way.

I just checked AutoZone's website and they say I can't have the 90-DRG shipped to my home. I have to purchase it from my local dealer + there is a $12 core charge. I'm assuming that if I could get it shipped to my home I would have to pay the core charge.
Question....would my local AutoZone give me back my core charge if I took my old battery in to them, even if I had purchased it on line and had it shipped to my home.
They do have on their site a $15 gift card for online purchases over $100. But, if you have to pay a $12 core charge, $15 doesn't mean much.
