At Last: My First Failure
I was pretty lucky when I bought my '07 new. It was built in late December, '06 and I guess I was right between the flying roofs and the puking rocker bearings. After nearly 56,000 miles I had my first parts failure. My grandson and I were out in the boonies on a good paved road and I did a quick burnout. I forgot to turn off the traction control and I quickly got into wheel hop and something broke. It was a brake light filament. So far, this car has been bulletproof. Yes, it's true, I don't race it but it sees a little hard driving now and then. And when I pick up my grandson from school, he always has me open the mufflers as we idle through the parking lot. You know, just for a little attitude for his buddies.

I bet your grandson sits up in his seat so everyone can see him too . Just like I did when my brother would pick me up in his Chevelle SS 396 . Your grandson will have those great memories for many years .

My first Grandson just arrived in July. I'm waiting for the day when I can be the "cool" Grandpa (among the others out there) that picks him up with the Vette.

Burning Brakes
I still have a little time left
WOW !
My 2008 only has 50,000 miles on it. I guess I still have a chaqnce of selling it before I have a brake light filament failure too.

and there is so much of it out there, ashame since one of the sides to the forum is people tend to only post problems/complaints..
we don;t see enough of these threads from the thousands of people who have 0 to only tiny issues.

I have 55,000 miles on my cammed 2006 DSOM Z06 and no real issues except it's still a better car than I am a driver. I guess I better check out those taillights!
That is cool that you spend quality time with your grandson.

Thanks for the good words. When my car was only about 3 months old, I took my 16 year old nephew for a "Demo" ride Northwest of Tucson on a remote road with a good surface and no traffic. He had recently received an older 4 speed Jeep for a birthday present from my brother and I knew that he had learned how to work a clutch because, believe me, that jeep wasn't exactly easy to drive. Well, we ended up about 10 miles from home and I turned into a large parking lot. I got out and told him to get in and drive. He was pretty hesitant but I told him that he had the entire parking lot to practice on my clutch and that if he took it easy, it would be easier to drive than the Jeep. We cruised around the parking lot for a few minutes and I just said, "Head for home." Well, he got onto the main road and drove it like an old woman which was OK with me. He had a serious look on his face until we stopped in his driveway, then broke into a smile that didn't come off his face for a week. He was the hero of his schoolmates for a couple of weeks since all they wanted to know was what it was like. He told them that it never needed more than about 10% throttle and that it accellerated better in 5th gear than his Jeep did in 2nd. Oh, he also told them that, with me at the wheel, it was brutally fast.

Cool story. My grandson is only 18 months old. I look forward to him riding with me.
