[Z06] KATECH TRACK ATTACK 2012 official thread

Derek,
Actually Autobahn is tougher on brakes. Despite reaching higher speeds at Road America, it also has long segments that provide brake cooling. Autobahn, even running full track is much more technical and has shorter intervals between turns making it very tough to allow cooling into the brakes. Road America has 14 turns, Autobahn has 21.
It's a good idea to always have at a minimum, an extra set of front rotors and brakes.
Did you ever get your boots back so you can come?

I did have issues with the Ferodo DS3000 and only ran them once (Autobahn 2 years ago I think). If you're running the street pads that came with the Brembo GT setup I think that is the DS2500 pad but could be mistaken. In any case if you're going to drive the car hard I'd look for a more track oriented pad - especially at Autobahn.
I just moved to the wide annulus rotors and CL doesn't make an RC6 that fits so I went to Hawk DTC-60 front and left the RC6E rears on. I was happy with the performance at VIR last week and have two sets. That said it seems like lots of folks run DTC-70s instead.
Take all this for what it's worth. I'm a relative rookie compared to the others on this thread.

My bet is Mike and Don will have the new track almost worn out by the time we get there.
Hey, if the track is 1" higher then the air will be thinner up there causing less drag, but the engines won't get as much oxygen because of the thin air! I wonder how this is all going to work out???
What the hell, I have to pee every lap anyway!

I'm happy to announce that we've added another vendor to the event! Corsa Performance Exhaust will be on hand to demonstrate and talk about their products. They can answer any questions you may have about their systems and there will be many Katech-built Corvettes at the event showing what they sound like at wide-open-throttle!

Beats sipping champagne in Paris, or is it really the track and drivers that are the attraction? And the Garagemahal is more exciting to see than the Eiffel tower. Or the Autobahn gate security is nicer than French immigration. Or Mike is a better host than Carla Bruni Sarkozy!

Burning Brakes
Can't wait to try the new surface! Since I will be in a "borrowed" car again, perhaps there will now be enough grip to soften the 400 wear tire compound. Jeff is still trying to decide if he is going to borrow my trailer or drive his Katech SA car (4000 miles round trip).
So Jim and Mike, I think it is my turn to buy the beer. What time does the party start?

When you get there Dean but you will have to arm wrestle my wife to see who gets to pay for the beer.
I thought you were bringing your car?
