Default What's a modded Z06 worth?

Need some insight as to what my car may be able to attract for offers being a moddified car. I know I don't want to trade it in and get what a stock cars trade in value would be.

This is what I have done thus far:

RPM 6 Speed Automatic Transmission w/ Paddle Shifters
Brembo Big Brake Kit w/ Yellow Calipers
HRE P40 Wheels 19x10, 20x13
Caravaggio Daytona Seats
Caravaggio Diamond Stitched Tunnel
Caravaggio Center Armrest
Breathless Rear Diffuser w/ CES 2 Tip Exhaust
Dynatech Headers
Lingenfelter Guages
Lingenfelter Intake
Lingenfelter MAF
Lingenfelter Throttle Body
Lingenfelter Fuel Rail Covers
Formato Ported Intake Manifold
ZR1 Spoiler
Katech Carbon Fiber Front Splitter
Katech Carbon Fiber Side Splitters
APSIS Carbon Fiber Side Mirrors
APSIS Napa Leather Steering Wheel
APSIS Carbon Fiber Interior (bezels, consol, Guage pods, shifter, etc...)
APSIS Carbon Fiber Engine caps, Radiator shroud, battery cover
Halltech Carbon Fiber GT2 DRED hood
Bilstein Custom Valved Shocks
Carbon Fiber Headliner
Kenwood DNX9960 Navagation/Radio
Omega GPS Car Tracker
Escort 9600CXI Laser Jammer/ Radar Detector

54K miles (34k of which have come under my ownership since April 2010), car has an extended warranty through Zurich through 75k miles. No issues at all with the car, just know I will be in the 70k+ mile amount next year. Car was stock when I bought it on 4/10, and all the parts above have been installed within the last 18 months.

Wow! You spent a lot of money on that car! How much were the mods?

about $70k+ not including paint/labor

$25k in carbon fiber alone between interior, engine, hood, mirrors, headliner, etc...

Your gonna have to fight with high miles and engine mods and many of the new buyers wont like either one of those. It seems that warranty is useless on modded cars too.

You're better off stripping as many mods off the car as possible (or as many as you have stock replacements for), and selling them separately from the car. Just looking at your mods, you have several thousands in easily removed products that would quickly sell in the Parts subforum piecemeal: Kenwood headunit, Brembo's, HRE wheels, engine dress-up and most of the interior as long as it's not some crazy color scheme.

Selling it as a package deal will be hard - mods rarely bring any serious return unless they are professionally installed by a well-known shop (receipts help). Not to mention that the car is an automatic Z06 (small market), you'll be hard-pressed to get more than a fraction of the value of the mods in addition to the car itself relative to taking back as close to "stock" as possibly and selling off the remaining parts.

You could always list the car as-is for a month or so and see if you get lucky with the Right Buyer, and then part out the add-ons as I suggest.

ETA: not that it matters much with the high mileage, but what year is your Z? I would focus on advertising the car as an "auto Z06" first and foremost, since I have seen a few guys mentioning they wished GM offered the option... but I doubt you'll get a premium for it - probably just the opposite.

Nothing close to what you have invested into it. I learned that the hard way... a few times. But then again that doesnt stop me from modding them.

This is what I did on my last car, made more in the long run.

It's an 07. Sold all the stock parts when I put the new ones on, so parting it out will eat some profit up with putting on used stock parts again.

Deal just fell through on the other car I was looking at, so just ordered up some ADV 5.0 TracSpec wheels in Gun Metal, and might pull the trigger on a head/cam package I have been eyeballing that Jeremy Formato has waiting for me down here since he has worked on my car some.

Guess it was just meant to be that I keep her. Look for her to be featured in Vette Magazine in 3 months...woo hoo!

I've spent about the same $$$ in mods as you have and I think the best I would be able to get for it today is about $85K and mine has only 34K miles on her. I recently sold my C5 that I modded and lost about $40K on it. I should have just kept it but it went to a good home so, live and learn.

My guess is I'll just keep my C6Z parked in my garage... Right next to my C7 and C8.

Do I have any regrets modding my Z? not a one.

I am local and I would be in the market for an automatic Z06 (even with 54K miles) on it. I'd prefer stock wheels, interior, hood, etc, and I'd also prefer any performance mods to stay on. I dont know what it'd cost you to replace the after market parts (not the headers or other power mods) with stock, but again you could sell the wheels, hood, interior etc for quite a bit.

How much would you be asking for your 54K mile Z06, returned to stock appearnce, but keeping the headers?

Of course I'd have to sell mine 1st, but I think you told me some time ago that Ferman might be able to broker the deal, in order to accept my car as a trade in.

I know it's a long shot but PM me how much you'd want for your car returned to stock + headers + automatic transmission.

Mods return a fraction of the money invested. Resale really is dependent on a very few buyers looking for the specific mods you have. For many buyers, extensive mods are a disincentive--particularly if they involve internal engine work. In your case, the mods are more cosmetic except for the tranny. I agree that you are better off keeping it and enjoying the fruits of your investment.

Go Noles.

I'd be interested in the caravaggio daytona seats. (as long as they are not too yellow), the carbon fiber mirrors, diamond stitched tunnel. Can you send pics or put some pics up on the forum on the interior of you car? Regardless if you sell it, I still want to see this car. It sounds very nice! Congrats.

Wouldnt be an option due to the cost of replacement parts and labor to remove and install plus shipping of parts.

Wow...beautiful car but you are going to take a huge hit on it as most buyers will look at the book price of the car. On average you will only get back about 10% of your investment in mods when you sell the car with them. Best would be to part out as much as you can and return it as close to stock as possible to minimize your loss.

Anytime you mod a car you have to realize you are tossing money out the window if you ever want to sell.

Good luck with your sale!

Very nice car!!!! looks incredible....that is a very well done and modded car. IMHO you should keep, you wont get the money back for the mods you put into the car unless you put it back stock and sell the parts.

Coming from a recent new Z06 owner. For me I wanted a bone stock, non modded Z06. I paid several thousand more for a stock car then one that was modded. From the research I did I found modded Z06s typically brought less money then stock ones. Granted it depended on the mods done to it.

If you are gonna sell it you should do it soon. Once the mileage gets to the 70k+ range it will be very hard to get good money for it
