My 2012 ZR1 Build Experience
So I decided to buy a 2012 ZR1, 1) cause it's a cool car and 2) so that I could spend some time with my dad and family doing a once in a lifetime very cool experience. I have a lot of great pics/video and will be posting in here as I have time to go through everything.
I ordered the car at the end of November 2011, flew to Detroit to build the motor on Jan 4th, 2012, and went to Bowling Green, Kentucky Jan 17th - 19th to watch it on the assembly line. GM has really given us the whole Rock Star treatment.
It started with having dinner with Corvette's Product Marketing Manager, Chief Engineer, and Motor Build Liaison.
Then Building the motor under the guidance of Corvette Engine Builder John Ross
I had them Put my Dad's name on the motor with mine
Everyone at the PBC was really nice and seemed to be as excited as we were!
Next the Assembly in Bowling Green
Shaking hands with the Plant Manager
Starting the Car for the first time with 0 miles
It has been an awesome experience so far! I am scheduled to pick the car up at the Corvette Museum on Feb 9th where I am supposedly being filmed for an upcoming TV series that is doing a show on the ZR1 (don't know details at this time LOL).
After that, I plan on spending some time on breaking the car in and getting used to everything. Then I will be going to the driving school.
This is my first Corvette and I can't express how much fun this has been and how awesome and nice everyone has been!!!!
Thanks to Everyone involved for making us feel so special!!!
If you get the opportunity to buy a new ZR1 or Z06 I recommend the Motor Build and for any new Vette, the Museum Buyers Tour (this is the program that lets you follow your Vette down the assembly line).
Just thought I would share with everyone. I will update later with more pics and some video

What a story! Congratulations to you and your dad on this fantastic voyage. I predict you will have a few sleepless nights from now 'till Feb. 9. I wish I had this opportunity with my dad. You're one lucky person.
Love the color choice as well.
Enjoy the ride.
