Default Bought preowned Z06 slightly whistling noise

Hello, I traded in 2010 Camaro as for a 2009 Z06 with 15,000 miles. I love the car, but I noticed this whirring/ whistling sound above 65 MPH when I press the throttle at all. Is this normal, and no there is no supercharger. Everything is stock.

I have a 09 Z06 and don't have any noises like you have.

Is it speed sensitive or RPM sensitive?

Thank you for replying. Above 65 MPH any throttle input gives this whistling, whirring sound even a little throttle, whether its low rpm or high. I can't even tell if its coming from the back of front.

You are saying that above 65 MPH you have the noise, no matter if you are in 4,5 or 6 gear. As you go faster, does the noise speed up?

Yes, it sounds very similar to the whir of a supercharger. No matter the gear, as long as I am travelling fast ~ 65 even a tiny bit of throttle with cause this sound and it stops a split second after I let go of the throttle. The noise does not speed up, it is a constant noise, sounds like air rushing through something.

sounds like it could be a wheel bearing, transmission bearing, or more likely a ring gear in the diff. How many miles on your car? I would find a reputable GM dealer if still within warranty and have it repaired.

Since it appears to be connected with the throttle, I'm suspecting that the air noise is within the throttle body. Do you know if any MODs had been done to the car, such as a ported throttle body?

As mentioned above, the ring gear could be suspect, but I would think it would be more speed sensitive.

I am schedule to bring it in Jan 2nd, I don't feel like driving to the dealership I bought it with a hangover, but I must (dealerships an hour away) I highly doubt the throttle body has been ported because everything else is stock, no CAI, no exhaust, nothing.

09+ cars are sensitive to this sound when you add any air intake mods. 09+ cars use a throttle body with a reverse rotation compared to older models. I would always hear the noise anytime you go above 1/4 throttle though no matter what gear or road speed, stock there should be no noise.

Make sure the clamps on your air filter and air bridge / throttle body are snug; any air coming through a gap there can create a high pitched whistling.
