Default New to Forum, Just ordered 2012 ZR1

What's up everyone, my name is Beau and i'm from Mississippi/Alabama.

This time last year I was thinking of buying a GTR, but after doing a little research I decided on a ZR1. I have been following this forum since then and after a year of research and planning, I finally ordered a 2012. I am going to build the motor Jan 4, 2012 and as of today the TPW is Jan 16.

I figured it was about time to register since I officially own one now

I can't wait to drive it. I stunt/race motorcycles and am very curious to see how the Z stands up to my Hayabusas. I'm sure I won't be disappointed no matter how it does, but I will have to learn how to drive a car now LOL

Also, for the ones who have done the motor build, will I get to see/hear the motor fire up after it is assembled?

Best of luck with your new ZR1 !!!

Congrats on ordering the most fantastic car in the world. The engine build is a great choice, the Wizards of Wixom will make you feel like a pro, I loved my experience, and yes you get to "start that dawg up" and see her run for the first time. But don't forget to get the NCM delivery option, for you it is close and a grand experience too. And don't forget to order the picture book of your car being built, they are great and priceless. What color?, like Alvin, I want to know.

Beau my name is Rob - I work in Wixom as the Business Planner for Engineering / Marketing there.. Can't wait to have you into the plant in a couple of weeks for your build.. If you have any questions beforehand don't hesitate to contact me. We will take good care of you and make sure your new beast is ready to ship to Bowling Green for installation. You will get to hear it fire up at the end of the day in our balance room where we run the engine on natural gas at about 1500 rpms to do our final balance on the assembly. You'll also get to see it run thru cold test where we test the function of the engine without having to run it on gasoline. Again - welcome to the forum and being a ZR1 owner myself you won't be disappointed I promise you!! The car is surreal - super smooth powerful and the handling is just incredible (you'll learn how to push it to the limits at one of the driving schools - definitely do one of them!!). Take care - and see / talk to you soon!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's torch red with the performance package, so black wheels and black headlights.

I am doing the Museum Delivery & pics and plan on going to the driving school. I'll post pics when I get some.

Congratulations!

Don't forget with cars everything is backwards. You use your foot for clutch, shift with your hands, turn the steering wheel to the right to turn right...

Default Welcome to Wixom Beau!!

Hey Beau,

On behalf of the engine builders, Welcome to Wixom!!

Should be a great day for you - and for us too! And yes, you will hear your LS9 fire up for the first time when you run it on the balance stand. Sweeet sound!

Maybe you can show us a few stunts on your Hayabusa? (you may need snow tires - or studs if you go on the frozen pond).

We're looking forward to your visit!

I'm all smiles already thinking of all that is too come!

I'm bringing my dad along to everything also. We both enjoy working on and driving motorcycles/cars as a hobby. So for me it's not just about buying a car. I see this whole experience as a once in a lifetime thing that me and him get to do together.

Anyway, should be fun

Beau,

Congrats on the order and great decision to do the engine build at wixom.

I just completed my ls7 build last week. Rob, Don and the whole group of wixomites are top notch and create an unbelievable experience for you.

I just got my pictures in yesterday from the build and it gives me goosebumps.

Firing the engine up for the first time really was an awesome culmination to the whe day. You are going to love it.

Congrats again. Happy holidays and safe travels to wixom!

Jeff
