Comparable drivers, the race car will pretty much always win. Lots stiffer suspension, way stickier tires, no extraneous weight. 0-60 and top speed mean almost nothing on a road course.

I recall one of the mags did a write-up a few months back comparing the LeMans Vette with the ZR1. They said the stock ZR1 was actually faster or could be but it didn't have the durability of the race car. Specifically, I remember them bragging about the Carbon brakes on the production car vs. the steel race car brakes; they said the Carbon brakes stopped wayyyy better. Maybe I am only remembering pieces of that article and off base though. Anyone else recall that one accurately?

A Cup car weighs 3400lb w/driver and full fuel and makes 750-800hp. Even if you put an otherwise stock ZR1 on full race slicks the Cup car lays down a better lap time than the ZR1. Now if you took something like LG's hill climb car on full slicks then it might get interesting.

- It would be interesting to match a zr1 up with a Nascar or Lemans race car on a standing mile.

I have solid information that the ZR1 would not be very close. This information comes from a very reliable source. How reliable? How about someone that drove in the race on Sunday and has driven the ZR1 at the limit. The ZR1 is at a disadvantage in many aspects such as aero, downforce, grip, suspension, CG, weight, set up, etc.

Our cars are good, no doubt, but lets not get carried away....

cheers!

I think you pretty much summed it up. The power is definitely greater in the ZR1 - 638 vs. 470 in the C6.R with the tiny little air restrictors Corvette is given. The 'competition' Corvette commercial is one of the best ones yet. ACO rules don't allow carbon ceramic rotors so they are much better than steel. It's definitely the suspension setup and the fact that it's a purpose-built racecar that would make it lap faster than a ZR1. Always nice to know that the chassis is the same as what we have in the garage

High performance street car vs. pure race car - not even close. And the current CUP cars make 850 - 875 HP. Even Lewis Hamilton said he could not believe how well the CUP car handled when he drove it this month at Watkins Glen.

There is not 1 category that a zr1 could even match a cup car in yet alone win. My bet is a civic and a zr1 would be closer in performance than a zr1 and a cup car.

Do you even realize what you are saying?

The crazy one is you, name 1 thing that a zr1 will better a cup car in on any sort of track.
