160mph+ w/Stock Aero GS/Z06 ?
How do these cars feel at this speed with stock aero? I have not been to a track, and am not going to risk being executed on the roadside if a cop road-blocks me for doing something like that on a public highway.
Also, how do they perform at that speed objectively? Are they glued down and do they handle, or is it "hold on, keep it straight, and pray you don't get any wind"?
I have noticed that the Z06/GS are the only cars in this "league" that actually produce LIFT the faster they go instead of downforce. I am just curious if the lift is significant enough to cause an issue.

Have been 160+ many times with stock aero...have seen over 190 on the HUD on a couple of occasions. Zero issues. Car felt very planted with no wandering or noticable lift.

I saw 173 on the HUD at the Mojave Mile (169.4 trap speed). The car felt fine (Bilstein Sport shocks) although the runway was quite bumpy. Acceleration really drops off when you shift from 4th to 5th at 162 MPH. At Firebird it did 145 on the main straight and was planted.
I drove a student's car to 145MPH at Monticello and at the 140 MPH kink on the back straight it was "on it's toes", which encouraged me to get the Bilsteins as soon as I got my car last November. I am very pleased with them.

On a flat straight the lift is negligible. You just don't wanna be doing a 1G curve at 130 plus mph. Stock aero is even great for high speed track unless you are experienced enough to go beyond the stock limits.

It all depends upon what the alignment settings/tire compound/wear, road crown/quality are. The same car can be stable on a flat road @ 160+, while dance around nervously @ 120 on a highly crowned road where the asphalt has degraded somewhat.
Air can (and does) get under the car. Especially if the car gets "loose" and goes sideways. Then, you become a passenger!

I run my stock 09 up to and past 160 several times a week to and from work, when the traffic allows it. I can usually set the cruise at 140 . I am lucky to live in Germany for the time being and when I was looking for a house my only requirement's were a garage and no speed limit to work. I have 20 km of restriction free, no entry or exit ramp autobahn between the office and my house . The road surface changes 3 times in that stretch and I run next to a 1 meter concrete wall in the left lane most of the way, unless traffic is really lite or someone wants to pass (that GT3 RS is a sneaky little bastard) then I will run down the center. I brought over my 2005 base and it was not bad at speed, but as a frame of reference, the Z06is much more sure of itself and I am more comfortable and confident in the Z over 150. I was pleasantly surprised by the minimal effects of cross winds as well. I have only had the car a few months and plan on installing the ZR1 areo and bilstine's are on the way already as well as a 1/4-1/2 in drop. I can't wait to get her on the track later this year to test out the rest of the abilities .

I have gone over 160 in my Z several times hit 190 a few times on local highways but with barely any one on the road. To be honest if a cop clocks me at that speed he might as well stay put bc by the time his cruiser hits the limiter of 130 mph im longgggggggg gone when i see those lights and im going that speed might as well keep going bc your gonna go to jail if you stop regardless. ill be home sleeping by the time he just puts his cruiser into gear lol
These cars are very stable at high speeds and quiet might i add. i used to own a C5Z and once you pass 80 you would here the air creeping in the window not mention over 150 shaking lights and so fourth. I would run cruise control at 160 in my C6Z with confidence all day the streets would allow! Just make sure you have good tires

Similar for me. Dozens of Texas Mile passes in my Z. Once past 160 and into the 170s it began to lighten up. Just a bit. But was noticeable.
My ZR at the same event (i.e. same surface) felt more planted, even up into the 180s. I'm no aero expert, but I attributed the difference to the front splitter on the ZR. Front end on the ZR just felt a tad better planted.
My guess (and it's a guess as I haven't tried it for back to back comparison) is that putting a ZR or Katech splitter on the front of the Z would make it feel as planted as the ZR.

I think it will very much depend on the road surface and the alignment. Bone stock I took it up to 160+ on a non-perfect road, and it felt really unstable, like the front end was floating. That sensation went away after I had it realigned. I hear the factory alignment sucks, and I suppose based on personal experience that it's true.
That said, I do plan on some Katech goodies to help keep the car planted.

Exit the esses at 143 and 160+ down the back straight at "The Glen". I don't know the exact terminal speed because I don't have the ball to look. In bone stock trim the Z is rock solid.
BTW, I'm presuming that all these 150mph+ guys are doing this on a closed circuit and not on a public highway where our wives and kids drive. Only a jerk would do something like that RIGHT?
