Hello 6's! ...Finally! My Z with tune/CAI, vid inside!
Last night I decided to take my Z06 to the local eighth mile drag strip and once again see if I could hit 6's. I had been dancing around them for a few months now (previous best was 7.07), and each track visit seemed to be getting better and better with my launching. My first pass right when I got there was a 7.07 @ 104.6 mph so I knew there was potential. Next few passes, the track just seemed to be going away--was not hooking well at all. Decided I was going to have to work on a slower clutch release... Anyway, I let the car cool down for a while and waited while the sun went down. The air cooled off to ~60 degrees, and density altitude was 939'. Made a couple more 7.0x passes and decided I was going to take the launch rpm up a bit higher. So my last pass, I let 'er rip:
60' 1.64 <--significantly off from my best 60' of 1.57
330' 4.57
1/8 6.97
MPH 103.2
woohoo!! Finally got my 6 second pass! To recap my mods, I've got a Halltech Super Bee FG102 and an E85 tune. Car also had just over half a tank of gas in it. Video is below. I'd like to once again thank Fartpipe for all his advice in my quest for 6's. Next up, I can finally put some real mods on the car like headers, FAST intake, etc! Btw, can we get an eighth mile fast list in here?!?! No 1/4 mile tracks local to me.

It's usually harder to hook after the sun goes down as it's not heating the track and the engine is making more power with the cooler air...congrats on the new best and look forward to you going faster with your Monster!

Very nice, congrats!
That would almost certainly have been a 10 second pass at a 1320, probably well into the 10's!

That is some impressive driving right there ChameleonTA. Very impressive with as little mods and a Monster Stage 3 clutch can do in the right hands. That surely would've been a low 10.8X or 10.7X run at 130mph. Thats cooking with gas baby. How many passes do you have under your belt with this car and with the Monster Stage 3 clutch?

Thanks everyone! And I must say that around here, these track officials go nuts when they see this car! I have posted some videos before where I had the radio tuned in to the track announcer frequency and it's hilarious to listen to them. Unfortunately on this latest track visit, I couldn't get the radio tuned in to the right station.
I think the 6.97 was my 29th pass with my Monster clutch! Lovin it!

The commentary in some of your videos from the announcers is hilarious.
I have 101 hard passes on my Monster Stage 3 and still kicking butt and taking names. We just need to get you into the lower 1.5x's, some more bolt ons, good track, a quarter mile track with good weather and VOILA low 10's!!!!

Quick question.....
Was your E85 tune on the factory OEM injectors ?
Do you recall what your IDC's were ?
Excellent runs

Thanks. It's on stock injectors and is maxed out at the upper rpm's. I have a set of ZR1 injectors that will be going in next.

The ZR1 injectors may not be enough if you plan on going over 530 RWHP. You have only one level of fuel pressure, the ZR1 has two. I believe the second pressure under boost is 65PSI. I know our CTS-V has the same pump.
The serve 550 RWHP on the ZR1 just fine, but you need another +25% to account for the 8.5:1 air fuel ratio needed for OL on E85.
What was your HP level with the Super BeE85?

We run 65lb/hr FAST injectors on our E85 setup with 594 RWHP/568 lbs. ft.

I have the 1st gen Killer Bee but am thinking about going with the new Super Bee in June. I've read most of your post regarding the comparison between the generations of your intake and it sounds like the new Super Bee offers considerable improvements.

RC Engineering has some really nice injector sizing charts. www.RCeng.com
We have a set of their 550cc injectors in stock brand new.

Larger plenum, CAD design, 103mm inlet with a built in velocity stack, MAF forward, .234" thick; 1.5" throw into the filter flange; antil surging technology; couples to the WP102 perfectly.

Yes. They are good for around 600 at the wheels, maybe more; the goal is 80% Duty cylcle on injectors, but the can go to 100%. Once you surpass the DC of 100%, the car goes leaner and leaner at high rpm.

I'm really liking the idea of E85, especially in the high heat environment we have here in Phoenix, but the limited availablity and hit I'll take on my cruising range has me treading carefully in my decision making process. My thoughts were to try E85 on the car with it's current stock compression and injectors and if my concerns over the inconvience and availability for E85 fillups are addressed, go with bigger injectors and milled heads. The car is stock right now (other than full ZR1 exhaust and Killer Bee), but I have a set of 1 7/8 longtubes in transit and the Katech 110 sitting on the counter top.
Talking with my local tuner, my feeling is that I could get away with a 12:1 compression and have a secondary pump gas tune for 91 octane and a can of Torco for those times where E85 availability in non-existent.
