Default C7 LS7 will be 570 HP / 525 TQ!!

This is the first article I've seen that indicates the LS7 will be an option on the C7, and that it will have superior stock power.

"Engine

Among all the changes, the ones in the performance of the car are interesting. The 2013 Corvette C7 offers three engine options to choose from. First, a 6.2L V8 that produces 460 horsepower and 460 pound-feet torque. Second is the 7.0L V8 that has the capacity to produce 570 horsepower and torque of 525 lb-ft. And if you want a more powerful one, there is the 6.2L supercharged V8 the can generate 700 horsepower and 630 pound-feet torque. There is an option to ride in either 6-speed manual or automatic transmission."

Move thread to C7 board. Unless they got someone from the engine design team drunk and pried this info, it's speculation meant to drive traffic to their site.

Or online website hits. But with the C7 apparently so close to production, I'm willing to bet that some of this info is accurate and
I like to read about it.

They seem pretty sure of themselves in this article. I'm guessing dealer mark-ups will certainly exist with the C7's when they come out huh?

Umm I thought it was already determined that the base C7 was going to get a smaller displacement direct injection engine anyway. Not basically the same engine line up with more power squeezed out of them.

It may be speculation but it makes more sense to me than any of the other rumors I've heard.

Do you guys really think the "Performance" of the C7's will be better, or just same/similar performance with a new look and vastly upgraded interior and of course, BETTER FUEL ECONOMY? My guess is the performance won't be much different then the current C6's, they just have the challenge of pulling off the same performance numbers while getting much better fuel economy and less emmisions. I could be wrong lol

Everything that I have read has pointed to a smaller discplacement engine as well.

To be honest, I don't think the corvette lineup "needs more power" or any new engines unless they absolutely have to get better mpg's (i.e. federally mandated). The ls3,7 and 9 are all good proven engines. I would like to see gm work on improving the rest of the car. I'm of the opinion that these cars don't really need anymore significant horsepower out of the factory (flame suit on). Modernize the c6 look, improve on the interior and some other little things and I think I will be buying when the time comes.

What kind of drivel is that? No sources. No quotes. Yet they stated it all as fact. I call that yellow journalism.
