Need a new battery.
After two days at in indoor car show, my 08 battery died so I am on a quest.
Searching the Z06 forum seems to indicate either the Duralast Gold 90-DLG or the Sears Platinum 75/86 DT would work.
My problem is that AZ lists the 90DLG as not available in the store and cannot ship.
The Sears battery is $200 (ouch).
So, any other ideas about a battery? And no, I am not a fan of the Optima batteries for this application.
Final resolution posted, see post #31.

Strange about the Auto Zone 90-DLG, as my local Detroit area store has them on the shelf. This battery is the 100% identical case as the OEM Delco, and drop's right in. As mentioned, check with your GM dealer on a Delco as they're pretty competitive lately, and usually very fresh stock. Not at all a rare battery, as my daily Pontiac take's the same one. As for local shipping, most carries wont ship a battery, unless it's a non spillable sealed unit.

My original Delco lasted 5 years. I replaced it with an Optima Red Top, but experienced random starting problems. I went back to the Delco, and everything is fine.

Post Post PS - It was a Group Size 47 but it appears to be no longer available from Sears as a Die Hard plus the Sear website no longer shows an available battery for the Z06!!

Don't have a Costco or any place to get the Deka battery so they are out.
So I guess I have to put the Delco professional on the list.

The smaller Ctek 800 is really more for motorcycle/powersports batteries, and really not much less if you shop around. I have two Ctek 3300's and batteries seem to last forever on these thing's. Delco professional series are really the same as most other Delco's, but sold at repair shop's/dealer's and usually much fresher stock. Retail off the shelf Delco's could be old stock, and know a few people who got some bad one's this way.

This should help. Wish I could take credit for it! Is this a great site or what? .... I have more batt. info if you need/want it. I read many, many
write ups before buying the Platnium (made by Oddessey). I have a 2005 plane jane C-6 that I put a 34/78 Platnium in. The only inconvience is that it is higher than the OEM and I will have to remove it to change out the cabin filter. As I drive it less than 2k miles a year, and the battery has a built in handle making lifting it out very easy; I consider it a non-issue. Plus, in my 1985 C-4 I had to remove the lower exterior side panel to replace the battery and then re-align the panel-door gap making sure the $%^& thing did not get so close as to chip the paint while making the adjustment! One sure thing, I would not trust my local parts place to give me one of their "free installs"!

Melting Slicks
I bought the Optima Red Top on sale for $137 shipped to my door (Advance Auto Parts online). It saves 8 pounds over the stock battery and I can let the car sit for over two weeks without even plugging in the battery tender.
Just make sure you clean and coat the terminals during installation.

90-DLG is in stock here at my local stores. I've been wanting to buy a replacement before my factory battery dies (original from 06). Probably will buy this week.
EDIT: Picking up tomorrow.
Does anyone know where I can get dragon clips? I do not want to lose my settings with a battery swap. Does autozone do installs with these clips?
