Help....Z06 is swaying at high speeds
Hi All,
I had a new clutch installed a few months ago and I noticed that when accelerating at higher speeds (100+) the car's rear tends to sway....the tires stay planted but the body is swaying in the rear....Anyone ever notice this condition after a clutch install or tranny removal?? And what was done to correct the problem??
Thanks for the input,
Lopez

9sec.... PLEASE oh please check the tire pressures 1st. Take the easy road. You can see in a search I about killed myself with that stupid sway and here it was the rear tires were evenly down to 26psi and on the 20in rear rims made for a SCAREY RIDE!!!. I checked this after doing an alignment, crawling under the car and retorquing EVERYTHING!!!!!!! It was the tire pressures and luckily someone brought it to my attention. Let us know what fixes your concern please. Thanks

This could be your problem!! I can't say for 100% sure, but the new rubber will cause the car to dance. Put about 1k-1500 miles on them or a few quick burnouts and you should have your cure. especially if you replaced the rear without replacing the front.

It's your alignment. Happened to me also at speeds over 100. The car felt like it was gliding and swaying side to side.
Even tire pressure in all 4 tires also helps

With your MID or checked with a good gauge? Thats another lovely one. I work at a stealership and the MID isnt always nice to us. Plus theres always the lovely customer with the $2.00 gauge thats off 4-5psi that gives us a issue. You have some good advice in here and looks like you will be breaking the speed limites soon

It looks just like the front outer tie rod ends and attaches to the knuckle via a small "ball joint". There is an adjustment sleeve on it that I've seen be loose on customers cars after having work performed at other shops.

If just ONE of the rear tires is toe-ed in 1/8" or more, the car will feel just as u describe. Also makes great fun when changing lanes and one rear tire crosses the stripe/reflector on the highway What happens is the rear tires "fight" each other for control of the cars tracking, and at any given time one may have more traction than the other. Is your steering wheel pointed in a slightly different direction than before any work was done? If so, it's the rear adjustment settings for sure. Take care of this right away....please
