Yep, they were there to hold off all oncoming traffic onto the highway.

My brave wife was filming. Public highway was only opened to Corvettes.

I haven't been over 200 - yet. But the new build was built with just that in mind, to run it over 200 and leave it there for a bit. 3 minutes flat-out was the design goal. Now, where did I put those toys...

done 186 and my buddy riding shotguns laugh when I told him we hit 186 was priceless, go on streetfire.net and type in c6 z06 186 mph its worth it!

Vids like the Balducci one are why they won't allow the free rein on the Toy run anymore. Power to you if you want to run like that with no traffic, but weaving in and out of other cars at 175 is nuts. Especially with damp roads. Lucky you survived that one.
