There is a really nice little power adapter cable that runs off the rear view mirror power and allows you to mount it up high next to the mirror (I don't really like the ones that hang off the bottom).

And FYI, the higher you mount it, the better it works. My cop friends and I have done extensive testing with the mounting locations.

Both the Valentine 1 and the Escort + Beltronics detectors are very high quality units. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. It really comes down to what features are valuable to you.

DashTronix makes a device called the Radar Projector that displays information from the radar detector in the C6 HUD. It also powers the radar detector on and off when the car is started up and turned off. No additional power wiring is needed, it is a 100% plug-and-play device.

Take a look at www.dashtronix.com if you would like more info.

Team DashTronix

Here is a demo of the V1 being displayed on the HUD.

Valentine one. I've tried the rest and if you want the best performance, it's the V1. Mount it up high (some vendor has a bracket that screws to the factory sunvisor clip mount), wire it to the mirror and it'll serve you well and look fairly hidden from prying eyes. It's much more consistently accurate than my Escort...

Thanks for the replies, guys!

It seems there are some cool accessories to go with the detector too. I'm really digging the HUD Dashtronix kit! Does this take over the HUD display all the time, or only when a radar/laser is detected?

Way ahead on the old V-1!

I goes off it's a cop! I'll take those feature's over the arrows anytime.
Not really way ahead, just different. If there are a lot of speed cameras where you live that may be a plus otherwise the V1 is still tops. As far as false alarms you soon learn how to read the V1 so you know what it's saying, the Bogey counter is a big plus too.

Only when there's an alarm, otherwise it's the regular HUD.
Bought a DashTronix because I'll often be listening to the stereo as I cruise. It's usually turned-up loud enough to drown out my 8500 X50's alarm. But one look at the HUD will be an instant update as to what's happening. Plan to install the D/T this Spring, can't wait.

Don't see any K-40's.
Radar and laser jammer all hard wired front and back.
Not trying to advertise for them, cause I haven't got my commission check yet.

You've seen my avatar.

Also you can download updates to the GPS AND RED LIGHT CAMERA LOCATIONS from the web site. No need to send in the 9500xi. This is an awesome unit. Strong signal means cop ahead. 1/2 signal means cop behind. Also its a very quiet unit. Learns and omits the locations of fixed radar, as in your speed is.... 3 passes by the location it will not alert on that location again.

Sounds absolutely fabulous, would love one, in the future.
First thing I noticed after reading-up on the 9500xi was its price, same as a Valentine 1. Great marketing, Escort knows their taget demo, alright.

ONLY question I have, is: How long will Valentine take to offer a product with similar features?
Valentine most certainly will have to come up with an updated/new model to remain competitive, stay abreast of the available technology.

I dont know the V1 has been unchanged for many years when it comes to features and such. They upgrade the software but the device hasnt changed much in over 10 years

That's true, Valentine 1 way ahead of its time with the dual antenna allowing for directional reception; BUT, the 9500xi is brand-as-new. Offers many great and hyper-uselful features that should have LEOs very concerned about the old revenue stream.

Time, and the [free ] market will determine the future success or failure of both devices.

Yes but with the advent of GPS, the ability to download speed trap location(s) et al, instantly, directly into the box without the need to send the box in for upgrades changes everything, IMO.

Valentine will respond, bank on it.

The bolded part concerns me a bit. Would it be possible that the cops leave a "Your Speed Is..." sign in a particular spot for a while. You pass that spot three or more times and the radar detector turns off that location. Next time you pass the radar detector ignors the signal, but this time it is not a false alarm and you get nailed. Just a thought.

A valid concern; however, since the suspected 3-time alarm is designated with a very precise GPS coordinate?
A LEO better be exactly, precisely where the false signal originated.

Without knowing the specifics concerning the device ignoring a 3-part signal per se, the suspect signal might have to be an identical signal or it'll not be ignored, too. Am guessing about that, though.

Thanks for the question.

The DashTronix Radar Projector only displays the V1 alerts when there is a Radar or Laser alert. The HUD operates normally when there is no alert from the detector.

I have the Beltronics STi Driver and it's OK. It is undetectable by radar detector detectors and that was my #1 criteria since I live in VA.
