If you would please post some pictures of the Jong Bloed wheels when you get them. I've heard a lot about them from racers but never actually seen any mounted on any C6's.

GM painted carbon fiber ZR1 splitter: 1.44 lbs
Elite Engineering Catch Can (black paint) by itself: 1 lb 3 oz (1.16 lbs)
EE can with brass fittings, bracket and fittings, and entire length of hose: 2 lbs
Onstar black window antennae 5.5oz
XM box 1lb 0.3 oz

How comes no one updated the CF splitter weight?

Plus 12# for the rears leaves 60lbs savings from wheels and tires? That seems like a reach.

I would not be surprised if the Jong Bloed wheels are around 17lbs for the fronts and 19lbs for the rears in 18x11 and 18x13. He makes really light, really high end competition wheels!

Could be, but you're guessing.
It would be nice to know from the OP where he's getting that weight saving.

So did we have a new thread created with the data from here as well as the updates? If not yet, perhaps I should create one, since this one is getting increasingly patchy with no updates to the first post.

Default From Halltech this Fall

$15,000 set

We should have the very set ever made for the ZR1/Z06 Carbon or Z07 next month at the Katech Track Attack.

^^^ Convincing video clip.

BTW, when I read the title, I thought, 'Jim is going to do WHAT?!'. At first, I parsed it like 'Sue (as a verb) the report card of Callaway'!

Halltech's CFRP wheels look awesome! It doesn't get any lighter than that.

So to add to the thread I had a set of Jong Bloed 3 piece 557's made. for 18x9 and 19x12 they hit the scales at 19.5 front and 21 rear. Combined with the Pirelli Corsa's in 245fr and 325rr plus coleman 2 piece brake rotors grand total comes out to ~82. 32lbs lost on brake rotors, 36 on tires and 14 on wheels. I thought the JB wheels would come out a little lighter, but with the anodized black it added weight (duh).

Nice overall weight loss, but you're not a 100% direct compare to a Z06.
Don't know how much additional width would add to the JB fronts.

The stock Z frt wheel is wider. Why did you go narrower?

Do you have any pics of the JB wheels?

It was a tradeoff for me. I dropped 0.5" width on the front, and 30mm of tire width. It's always contact patch versus unsprung weight versus rotating weight argument. My C6Z spends most of it's life on the street, Pirellis were the lightest, JB's were the right price, and Coleman's almost the same weight loss as OEM carbon ceramics (which mandate a bigger front wheel) and offset OEM rake. Realistically if I was running this car on the track I'd have 18x11, or 18x12 up front with something far wider like 315s like the Le Man's C6R.

This purchase was more of an experiment, and my current OEM wheels have more curb rash than I care to admit, plus the runcraps have zilch for tread left. Like .005/32nds

If I had money to burn, I would have bought Jim Hall's autoclaved CFRP wheels that are uber spendy, but drop 24lbs from the Z06 wheels.

It isn't, due to other performance upgrades. The lightest is 2006, apart from ULZ700, of course.
