Our First Z06
Early this summer may wife and I were talking about a few things we wanted to do in the next couple of years. One of the items on my list was wanting a Z06. For a number of reasons we agreed now was as good a time as any so I started the search. The objective was a well cared for 06, 07, or 08 with at least a 2lz package in Lemans Blue, Black, Red, or Silver. I found several beautiful cars and ended up buying one I found in Lexington, South Carolina.
The car we bought is almost perfect. It was owned by the owner of Herndon Chevrolet and I bought if off their lot. It is a 2006 2lz car with Lemans Blue paint and Dark Graphite and Titanium interior. The car had 12K miles on it when I bought it. To give you an idea of how the car was driven, it still has the original Goodyear’s on it and they still have plenty of tread left. The car also came Certified, Previously Owned (CPO) with a 12K mile, one year bumper-to-bumper warranty. With the car still under a GM warranty, I’ll be able to add a GMPP warranty later. Herndon Chevrolet was great to deal with.
I picked the car up this past Tuesday. I left South Carolina at 8:30PM and pulled into my Maryland driveway at 3:30AM. What an amazing trip. I’m very fortunate to also be the owner of a pristine 1991 ZR-1. The ZR-1 is in nearly perfect condition and has a top end package that with the stock rotating mass makes 500Hp in its 350 cubic inch engine. It was the supercar of its day and is a beautiful road car. The truth is I’m neither experienced enough or a good enough driver to have been able to imagine a car being more responsive and better handling than the ZR-1; at least until I drove the Z06 home.
What an amazing machine. I’m speechless. I expected the Z06 to launch better. I knew it had more torque. I just couldn’t imagine the difference the overall Z06 package makes to the driving experience. Needless to say, I’m pleased.
Just to add a little icing on an already great cake, I drove my 2007, 3.6L V6 CTS to the dealership. They took it as trade. The CTS got 23 mpg averaging 70 mph over the 510 mile trip. The Z06 got 28 mpg averaging 75 mph over the same 510 mile trip. Simply amazing.

LMB is an amazing color for a widebody. Before I bought my Black Z I had one just like yours located in PA. a (500 mile trip) but it was December and did not want to chance the ride.

Anyway...did not have time to read all of your post, but the jist of it is that you do like the Z06 as compared to your C4 ZR-1? or do not? which is faster? I suspect eh C6 Z06 is faster by virtue of it's weight....
Anyway congrats....

Welcome and congrats on your Z06! I just picked mine up back in July. I have to agree wtih you, it is an amazing car.
With all the hype around the GS and ZR1, lots of people are forgetting what an amazing car the Z06 still is. Its nice to see new owners post feedback here still.
I can tell you I have put about 5k miles on mine in just about 4 months and I still enjoy it as much as the first day I brought it home from Atlanta.
Enjoy the hell out of it and be safe.
