Check this video out. Ford GT getting spanked by a z06.

Is this a forum member's Z06 - presumably modded???

Well, Ford GT wins in the looks department, IMO. That is one of the few Fords I'd proudly own, but not at the prices they command. Are they still going for over $100K even on the used market?

Crappy camera work, poor choice of lighting conditions, bad sound.

Got tired of watching the boring camera work . I presume the GT got spanked ? Don't bet on opening a can of whoop azz with a ZO6 on a GT with anything under 550 rwhp and a GOOD driver. Those GT's are very quick.

The two cars are equally as fast with maybe a tenth or two to the GT for the win. Z06 with 550rwhp should DESTROY it!!

If I had a choice and price was the same, I'll take the FGT in a heart beat!!!

I like the Z but to me, the FGT just looks meaner, sexier and they are eaaasy to mod as well

I'll take a red, white or black please.

Thanks,
Carlos

That Ford GT does look good, especially for a body style designed in the 60's. Lots of aftermarket copies of the Ford GT40 were available thru the 80's. I built a GT40 copy Fiberfab Valkyrie in '73 and '74. A copy of the GT40 (a 2" X 4" steel frame with a Chevy smallblock bolted to a Corvair transaxle). Body, frame and adapters was only $2,000!

x2. I like the GT a little better than the Z06, but it's nowhere near the deal a Z06 is! That's why a Z will be in my garage instead.

Only downside to the Ford GT compared to the Z06 is its weight, Wikipedia has them at 3,485lbs. I wish Ford would make some more of them

The fact that it's 5 or 6 inches lower makes a big difference.

How does intake/tune with a passenger pulling a car? Does that count as a whoop ***?

The looks of the FGT and street presence that car puts out is untouched, even by the elite.

Performance, though similar power numbers with the 5.4L out of the FGT having a torque advantage, stock vs stock it's pretty much a drivers race. They are almost equally matched with overall speed/acceleration going to the Z06 while grip and average power going towards the FGT.

Good match up really.

Ford GTs are hella fast and look menacing as well!! The interior is miserable... Your head could most potentially get chopped off if you are careless when closing the door. At most atleast mess your hair do at most instances.

They are very very mod friendly, however at the price point they are in... I would rather own a lambo or a Ferrari!!

The Z with 20k of performance mods will whop most if not all GT all the way back to Henry Ford days!!

Yeah. Around $150K is the cheapest I have seen lately.

I mean no disrespect but why own a ferrari or lambo over a gt? There's only a tiny aftermarket for either group which makes modifying them almost out of the question but as expensive as a blower upgrade is for a GT its not astronomical. Not to mention, and I fully expect to get blasted for this, there are ferraris and there are lambos, but there is only a GT. Not to mention the engine has more then proven itself long term, which is somethin I've never heard ferrari owners brag about. Still would take the Z06 any day. It may not have the crazy looks but at end of day I can live with the fact of beating $200,000+ cars, question is can they deal with looping to a $70,000 car.

That was forum member-Phantasms...he was probably the first on here to roll in a blacked out Z and the kid knew how to drive. I liked the vid...music is cool.

If I could afford it, I would have a FGT, hands down. No question they are the baddest looking rides, IMHO. But in that vid, a intake and tuned Z walked the GT pretty badly. If I had the $$, I would have a FGT with a Whipple blower and call it a day.

A FGT with a Whipple is a NASTY ride.
