Default Small Vararam Problem

Hi! I just installed a Vararam CAI on my 2006 Z06. For some reason the plastic rivet holding the lower portion of the intake to the front frame rail keeps popping out. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes I had a similar problem. My right side fastener came loose. The hole is oval and too large for the fastener I had. I changed it using a drywall fastener with the butterfly hinges and a rubber washer. It holds fine now.

I had that exact problem. Ditched the plastic pieces and installed bolts with plastic grommets. Really solid now.

Mine fell off soon after installing the Vararam. Runs well without it. Hard for the intake to escape with the hood closed.

Okay, not a grommet. It got a new and improved fastener. I forgot I had a different shop secure it more firmly last time it was there.

Machine screw and nut combo (possibly a toggle bolt) with a couple of large flat washers. Excuse the nastiness. Haven't had a chance to detail it in awhile and got caught in the rain a few times.

That's exactly what I used - with a plastic washer

I set aluminum lock nuts in the holes.Same thing they used to put roof racks on Suburbans with. Then you can use a machine screw.

How did you set the lock nuts into the holes?

It was a very small one I picked up from the local hardware store - just measure the hole's diameter before you buy it. It was about 3 inches long.

WOW sounds disapointing. Youd think $500 CAI would atleast come with decent hardware.

It wasn't disappointing for me - easy fix and worth it for me. It works great and I love its performance.
