[Z06] 427 hood emblem - cheesy or cool

If there's a greater possibility of getting a used Z06 with them than without them, then that must mean more people like them than dislike them.

Just for yucks, I asked this on The Car Lounge over at vwvortex.com (TCL is not really a VW/Audi site, just a car site with a lot of opinionated guys and a youngish demographic). The poll was lopsided, with something like 209 against, 7 in favor of the badges.

I have them and I love them. To each their own, if you don't like them don't put them on your car. If the emblems catch your eye and look good to you thats all that really matters. Emblems are just like any other mod done to your cars. Its all about what the owner of that particular car desires. End of story.

Well I personally like them but they just don't seem to fit into the curved lines of the car since they are so sharp. So I created mine with decals that are little more smooth looking.
That little number on the hood is the biggest conversation starter for sure.

I've been on the fence on the 427 emblems for a year, just can't decide if I like them or not. Right now I'm without but I certainly don't think they're cheesy. I'll further complicate the issue by adding I think they look good on some colors and not others. Good on black, grey, sliver, white and maybe JSB and lemans. Not good on red, orange, yellow.
I think they look fantastic on FN's car because of the carbon and his hood is higher than stock.
I don't care for this, but like NJLS said, to each their own......

I was on the fence about getting them. My wife pulled the trigger for me as a birthday present. Mine is a VY car and the badges look great. It definitely fills a void that the car had without the badges, the hood looked a bit plain before. As someone already pointed out, they are a great conversation starter and everyone that has seen my car prior to the badges has said it looks better with them on. The fact that it's a GM specific badge that was put on the Will Cooksey limited edition car is, in my opinion, a very tasteful edition to anyone's hood. It looks like it could be a dealer installed option. The red in the badge matches up very nicely with the Z06 fender badges.
Every time I look at the car, I'm drawn to the "427" on the hood first. I'm very happy with them. It's a very nice quality piece.

As someone stated earlier, with the recent release of the new G/S, this is now a good way of setting the Z06 apart from the "other" widebody.
My 427 badges are sitting on my dining room table just waiting to be installed tomorrow after the installer does his work with the new stripe kit from Vette Stripes.
I'm very much looking forward to having them on the car!

I ordered my 427 numbers back in Sept 05 before my car was even built, they were from 1967,
you young guys will never ever get it. I cut off the mounting studs filled the back with epoxy
and used 3m tape to apply, you kids are behind the curve, they are way cool! Child of the 60's

I think you missed the point, the Z06 badges or the Corvette emblems don't help with any performance related improvement either, they came on the car, identify the model, and are factory pieces. Some of the purest feel that anything that didn't come on the car should not be placed on the car (427 badges), but do exactly the same thing with installing other pieces that did not come standard on the car. Peoples opinions are based on what they like and don't like.
The point is its your car, put on it what you like and don't worry about if someone else likes it or not. The Z06 has a 427 C.I. Engine under the hood so the badges are correct for this car. IMO, people who bought the car just to get approval from the masses and feel the need to make sure their car meets the mass standard, probably bought the car for the wrong reasons and will never truly understand what this car is all about.

I'll get a set of 428 badges. I wonder if it will get enough conversations started to satisfy my need for attention.

Looked great on the C2 and C3 big blocks but that was back in the day when engine displacement #s and engine code #s were done. It's an era thing, and it's time came and went, just me though, I like the C6 Z06 just as it comes.

To me that is exactly the point. The 427 has returned!! The Corvette has not had one under-hood for about 30 years so it is a noteworthy event.
