Default Buying a C6 Z06, what to look for??

I have a C5 Z06, and a friend of mine is looking for a stock C6 Z. Being that I am not as familiar with the C6 Z, what types of things should we be looking at aside from the normal wear and tear? What can go wrong or begin to fail on the C6 Z with low mileage? Thanks!

I'm sure plenty of other people will have more suggestions, but I'd look at the clutch fluid to see if it's dirty or not. Apparently there is an issue with clutch dust dirtying up the fluid easily.

I wouldn't worry about this so much. Clutch fluid can go back from a couple runs to redline.

I'd check for abnormal tire wear, strange noises, clutch slip, etc. 500 miles can be a lot if they were driven a quarter-mile at a time.

Other than that, mechanically it functions the same as your C5, minus the dry-sump.

Check for tune and go from there.

Pop the hood, kick the tires, I usually jump in and honk the horn and turn the steering wheel. hehehehehehe

Other than that make sure it hasn't been tuned.
Tunes void the warranty if something goes pop under the hood.

Yeah I dunno about that lol If you go by looking at the clutch fluid then your never going to buy a Z06 or any vette for that matter. Hell even a 2010 with 50 miles is gonna have dark fluid. The fluid will turn dark probably a week after buying the car new.

Ah I'm only a prospective owner, wow I didn't know it turned dark that quickly!!!

The only other thing I've seen come up a lot recently has been problems with the exhaust valve guides and/or the guides themselves. Some people are having valves drop into the chamber (seemingly at random since it happens at varying mileage to both modded and non-modded Zs, not sure what you could do to check for guide wear that won't involve pulling the heads.. just food for thought I suppose.. Good luck in your search!
