Default Tire life?

I have an 09 Z06, I don't drive the car hard, haven't tracked it yet. I'm getting things ready to track it next month for the first time. it only has 6,000 miles on it. I took the back wheels off yesterday, checking brakes and tire tread. the tread on the inside of the rear tires is down to the wear marks, the out side is better has probably about an 1/8 of an inch above the wear marks. Front tire are in great shape almost new looking. Is this normal for a z06 to go threw a set of rear tires in 6,000 miles? I know if I'm doing burn outs, or drag racing, or other track events I wouldn't be surprised at them being this low, but I've babied this car so far.

I have 6600 miles on my 2007 and not a sign of tread wear. Sounds like an alignment problem.

My 07 just turned 11,400 miles and I'm down to the tread wear bars. I have a set of new GY F1's sitting in my garage. I'll be attending a HSDE at Road America in April and when I get back I'll have about 13,700 miles and I'll change the tires then.

I have even wear so even under the best of circumstances I figure the OEM tires are good for no more than 15K miles. Track it or have alignment issues and all bets are off.

Hope this helps

Tom

Depends on how you drive.

3 minutes and no miles if you drive like this.

That has to be one of the dumbest things I've seen in my entire life.

Ken,

I seem to only get 7 - 10k miles out of mine. Also noticed the first 5k miles or so the stock GY's are pretty decent on performance, the next 5k miles they aren't nearly as good, and anything after that, they're basically shot.

I got 8,000 miles on the first set of tires. I could have gotten 9,000 but I bought new tires for an HPDE. No need to risk it all on old tires.

Got 23k on my 07Z before I replaced the Goodyears. No drag racing or burn outs but spirited driving was the norm. Kept air pressure at 32 pounds.

I'm approaching 13,000 mi on my '08 and am at the point where I need new tires. Just normal driving, occasional spirited acceleration. I'll be trying the Michelin PS2 ZPs soon.

8,663 on my Stock GY's before I swapped to INVO's

fronts were just below the wear bars, rear where also, with the "belts" showing on parts of the rears.

I got 12,000 miles on mine.....could have gone another 1,000 but not worth the risk. Never know when spirited driving is called for.
Just put on 4 new Michelin PS2's today.

I have 17K on my tires, and the rears are now bald as a slick. The fronts are still about 50%.

The factory alignment is not conducive to good tire wear.

I got 11K on my first set..maybe 13K on my 2nd set maybe 12K on 3rd set...just switched to the General UHPs....so far its a whole new car. I can actually drive in the rain and accelerate from a light when the road is wet. Dry traction is worlds better and I expect to get way more than 11-12K out of these. The stock tires sucked after 4-5K. When you only start with 8/32 tread depth it doesn't take long to see traction diminish. I have no clue how anyone can get more than 11-13K out of a set unless you milk 'em down till they are bald.

I drive a 2005 C6 Corvette with the Z-51 suspension. At 28,500 miles I replaced my OEM Goodyear tires, which still had decent tread, with Michelin PS2 ZP run flat tires in hopes of a quieter, less harsh ride without sacrificing grip and treadwear. After having the tires installed, I immediately went on a 3,500 mile trip where I experienced both wet and dry summer driving conditions, and I found the Michelins to be a superior tire to the OEM's in all respects. I would highly recommend switching to Michelin, if you're looking to replace your OEM's.
I've been performin some research on the up-grade of the stock OEM GY RF over on the tirerack.com site. Where I ran across the review above posted by a guy out in MARANA, AZ. But, most of the Corvette ownerss who posted reviews stated their mileage average between 10-20K miles on the stock Goodyear OEM tires.
