[Z06] 1-4 Skip Shift Eliminator Question

Autozone definitely carries them.
You must first blow the fuse.
You can use an older battery charger, or just a jumper wire on your car battery from + to - with the fuse in series to blow it.
Then just remove your old fuse and install the new one. Be careful with the diagram as it can appear backwards and many folks change the wrong fuse.

Unless you have a CAGS eliminator, when the 1-4 light comes on then you can not shift into 2nd or 3rd at that time. However, if you are very slow shifting from 1st to 2nd, the rpms will drop far enough and the lock-out will no longer be active.

You know, in over a year and 8000 miles so far driving my Z, I have never once seen the CAGS come on. Fuse box was clean except for the M2W receiver. I wonder if the previous owner did the CAGS eliminator along with the M2W.

The only way to disable it is via tune, which is what the previous owner most likely did.
I went down the smartglow route myself with this car, and the fuse degraded. I had to remove it due to CEL.
I like the transmission kit the best.

Home-Made
I made my own 5 years ago (before anyone else thought of an alternative to the wiring harness trick) which has worked fine. I have also made several for friends who have had good luck.

i just blew the fuse and soldered a 10 k ohm resistor across the top of the dead fuse and reinstalled, no problems since. already had an assortment of resistors laying around so my mod was FREE!

My CAGS never interferes with my driving. that's 'cause I wind out 1st gear before changing gears. If you are daring enough to wind out 1st gear to at least 20mph (and man, that's slow!!), your CAGS will never show itself.
I just can't see why this is ever an issue for anyone.
To each his own, I guess. No worries here.

I have a 2010 GS which does not seem to respond to the fuse method. I blew the led smart fuse and replaced the #10 fuse with it as instructed, but the skip shift solenoid still seems to engage? Is the CAGS fuse location the same on the 2010? Has anyone else tried this method of disabling CAGS on the 2010?

Important: The underhood fuse box is labeled with numbers and letters to identify connector positions. Fuse #10 uses pins D12 and E12. The 10 A fuse next to the "10" (pins A10 and B10) is actually #8 and if you install your CAGS fuse there, you'll disable your parking lights! This is the mistake most people who have trouble make.

Cags
I've had a Z with and without CAGS. I averaged ~3mpg less with. If you can do 60 mph in first, why do you need it? My 2008 shifts easily from 1st to 3rd without CAGS, which may be a factor in my viewpoint.
