Default Which driving school?

Looking to go to driving school this fall. I bought my 08 Z 2 months ago today, and would like to get to know it a lot better! It's a little different "animal" than the trucks I have been driving the last 20 years!
I would like to go to Bondurant or Spring Mountain. Would I learn as much in the 2 day program at Bondurant as the 3 day program at Spring Mountain? Input about each greatly appreciated!

Lower cost options exist where you drive your own Z. Google the tracks in your area and check the schedule. A word of caution - in cold weather the Goodyear F1's have very little traction and the LS7 makes more HP.

I've run the NCM and TrackDaze events and both are well run and I've heard nothing but good things about all of the other clubs.

For your first event, you can run your stock pads, just don't drive too deep into the corners to where you are overheating them.

Warning: these events are ighly addictive

I live outside of Nashville TN, about an hour from Bowling Green. I did not realize NCM had driving school events. I'll do a google on Trackdaze (not familiar with that either). Thanks for the input!

I don't know what options you may have in your own back yard. From what I've read here, from the two choices you mentioned you get more track time at Spring Mountain. You should find more detailed info on a search to compare them but based upon the impressions I got I'd choose Spring Mountain.

been to spring mt and it was a blast, try to get some buddys to go from your local club and if you get enough people they will give you a discount group rate.

also makes it fun to share the experience with others you know

3 day at spring mt is my reccomendation!
you are treated well when you are there and get tons and tons of track time.

I've been to both . There are quite a few threads on this subject . I had a blast at both , but they are different . You need to ask where you want to go with your driving and how much experience you have . May want to try HPDE 's first ? PM if you have question's .

I think the only people that could have an opinion are those who went to both schools. I went to SM and loved it. I thought I was the baddest driver around and found out that a lot of the stuff I thought I knew was just wrong. Made me a lot better driver and definitely slowed me down on the street. We go back as often as we can for Track Days. Yes, it does get addictive. Lock your wallet up someplace secure.

I did level one, level two, and my SCCA qualification at Spring Mountain.

The best and lots of fun. Say "hello" to Chuck.

Wanna meet there?

For those that have gone to Spring Mountain. It looks like if you want a Z06 the whole time it cost an extra $1000.00. What amount of time do you spend in a Zo6 without the extra grand? Thanks!

It really doesn't matter if you're in a Z or not, in most cases, you are learning car control and technique. When I went there, I loved driving the C5Z, the Z51, and the Z06. It was neat to feel the differences. You'll get plenty of time in the Z to satisfy you.

there is alot of c6 z's there and even so most of the new c6 coupes they have are ls3 z51 cars anyways which are great also. both are great to learn the track fundementals with. it is more about learning then if you are in a Z or a coupe.

Go try all of them. SpringMountain was a blast, and I did it before all of the new stuff. JD

I did the 2 day Level 2 two years ago and spent maybe 20-25% of my track time in the C6Z06. The LS3 Z51s really are impressive and I also got re-acquainted with the C5Z06s (those + a few Camaro SS's are what they had when I did Level 1 in 2004). It was cool to have the opportunity to drive them all (including a Z51 automatic) back-to-back.

I haven't done Bondurant but can tell you SM was worth the price of admission for me. I can't wait to go back. I'd definitely recommend it if you're just getting started.

Spring Mountain hands down. I've taken the Level 1 & Level 2 at Spring Mountain and Advanced Road Racing at Bondurant. Track time at both is about the same, the track at Spring Mountain is a faster more technical track and I feel I learned more.
