#22
Do you Katech guys have anything to do with the C6's running in the GT4 category?

The last 24hr race under current GT1 regulations won by Corvette of course! Too bad about SRT's misfortunes towards the end of the race, it put down some incredibly fast times at the hands of Ollie Gavin! The SRT and PK corvettes where battling for the lead at around the 20th hour while the third car in GT1, a Maserati was 14 laps down! Talk about domination!

Yes Jason I'm aware of the difference I should have stated that I was changing the subject and inquiring where that GT2 car was, I saw a race after Le Mans in the ALMS I want to say Lime Rock, I didn't hear a word about the debut of the GT2 so I wondered if all systems are go. Where is the little beast?

Jason,
Congrats on the win. With the stress that is put on the engines of these cars, I can't believe ANYONE finishes one of these races. Do you just sell the engines or do you get them back after each race to evaluate and refresh them? If you get them back, could you give us a quick idea about what systems in the engine seem to take the most abuse?
Thanks,
Gary

These are LS7.R engines, not LS7s.

We get the engines back for refreshing. Not one single thing stands out as taking the most abuse as you say. It's a typical race engine refresh such as bearings, rings, valve seats, valves, etc. It all depends on the mileage.

Thanks again, Jason. Not having a particular system stressed over another must be a really tough thing to achieve in an endurance engine when maximizing power output (re drag racers) tempts you to push some limits that are offset by really short duty cycles on some parts (not, by nature, an option in a 24 hour race). Is there any chance we might get a few clues as to what is going into the GT-2 engines? Now, this is where no answer is totally understandable. I have never built an LS engine but I have built my own race engines and this is just a real curiosity for me. Thanks for hanging on the forum. I am sure there are several thousand silent members that also have learned a lot from your support.
Thanks,

I watched some of that on my computer Jason (not a real good connection, but it was better than nothing). The Mase's had me concerned... for awhile. Turns out they were not a threat. I was really disappointed that the Vette that Gavin was driving got wrecked. But I had no idea that the winning car was Katech-powered. thanks for illuminating that point.
