Default Brakes

I had the mechanic look at my brake pads after he did an oil change. The brakes have about 24000 miles on them and he said there was about 40% left. He also said the when I replace the brake pads, the brake disk and rotors should be replaced as well. Is this true, even if your brake disk are in good shape?

Typically you do not have to change the rotors as well unless they are worn past the minimum thickness.

I have went through 2 sets of pads on my car and still have the stock rotors on the car.

Not sure off the top of my head, but it is typically stamped into the rotor either on the inside or edge.

Forget replacing the rotors, you don't even need to get them turned if they are still in good condition.
