I'm using the "Conti Kit" from Tire Rack. Sealant won't bother sensors.

Thanks Vet for your service.

Default tires

I put michelins on my 08 Z06 and love them. What ever you do, do NOT mix brands. I put Michelins on the rear of my 96 collectors edition Lt4 with GYs on the front and I could barely keep it on the road. dave

The rubber degrades over time. 20/20 did a piece last year about how in older tires (even "new" older tires) the rubber can fail and cause blowouts. I don't remember the details, but there is a marking/code on the tire that explains the production date. Ask wolfdogs over in the C6 General section. He just retired from one of the fed agencies responsible for tires. He can probably tell you more about tires than you even wanted to know.

UPDATE: Here's a link that explains the tire production dates and has a link to the 20/20 piece: http://www.aa1car.com/library/tire_expire.htm

I had to look that up. It was Dateline NBC back in 93: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortu...7909/index.htm

I used Firehawks on my 05 Coupe. They were fine. Less noise than GY and better wear. On my Z, I'm still on the stock GY.

DH, are the Nitto's run-flats? I love what I've heard about them, but I'd still like a run-flat. I guess I'm insecure

Don't understand your question. If you're asking if anyone else makes runflats, there other manufacturers that do. Bridgestone for one has had some good reviews recently.

Today I changed my GY they had 7900 miles on them, awful set of tires. Wheel hop, unpredictable. Bought a set of NT-05 and expect to have lots of fun with them

How do the Michelin PS2's(non RF) compare to the stock GY's and the other non RF tires?

Default Bridgestones

I got about 20,000 miles out of my Goddyear's and replaced them with Bridgestones RE050A RF. Love them, ride is better, grip is better and I hear the wear is better, depending on how you drive. I checked out Tirerack and ask the Chevy dealer if would match the price.....he did.

It relates to an earlier comment in the thread made by me. I just bought some NT-05's (not mounted yet) and America's Tire tried to hit me with 7 bucks a wheel for a "sensor rebuild kit". Basically, new seals. I told them no thanks, but they insisted. We went back and forth a bit, but I flatly refused. Just asked if anyone else had heard or seen that B.S. before.

Someone on this thread said his installer told him he needed that when installing new tires.

They asked me too but I said it wasn't necessary and they didn't push it. Kind of like insurance when you rent a car

Rears never saw 8k miles and they were shot! How do you guys get 10k or more out of the OEM runflats? I replaced with NT05 (Nittos) and really like them.
