Man that GTR was pretty quick. I heard that HKS will be releasing their HKS600 package soon.

Nope I have turbo upgrades on mine that are making more HP than a HKS 570 kit and not to sound like a jerk but I wouldn't give ya 2 cents for it. There are a lot of GT-R's that run that kit as it is the first real mod that most people often do. For what you pay for it you can add about $2k more and do a turbo upgrade that would be good for up to 850hp but right now the car is limited to only 22psi of boost so when the new Halltech unit is released in August us guys running the turbo upgrades can turn it up!

The HKS kit can make about 550 on 109 race gas but most make about 520awhp on 93 with supporting mods and the Cobb AC stage 2.

I Love the GT-Rs, but for modding and my money, I will always go with the Vette. But someday I would like to own the GT-R as my 5th or 6th car.

The Z06 is cheaper to mod and IMO is the better drag platform ultimately as you take it up into the higher HP levels....lets say above 750rwhp. If I wasn't sponsored with my GT-R I wouldn't be doing all that I am to it but I'm committed to this project and so is the shop that is doing the work on the car. When I get the 2010 Z06 I'm going in a different direction with it as I want to track it and not put as much focus on drag racing so suspension, brakes, wheels and tire upgrades are first on my list...a trip to Katech is how I see it.

Something I've been thinking about lately is what is the used market going to be like for GTR's in several years? I've read many GTR owners are getting hit with a $28k bill when their transmission fails and their warranty is voided either to do launching or modifying the car. If and when GTR prices fall in the next couple years, how weary are potential used GTR buyers going to be about purchasing a $30k to $40k car that potentially will need a $28k transmission if it grenades?

Check the other thread and I get into the transmission issue which in a couple of words isn't an issue. Media hype and haters that's it in a nutshell. Also the new LC 2 doesn't void the warranty like the old version.

Like our Corvettes the mod path will always affect resale value but it is a choice of the owners and like so many Vette owners who don't mod their cars and keep mileage down on them by not driving only on sunny day's, car shows etc. The same with GT-R owners many don't and won't throw any mods on and many are multi - brand owners as well so you'll see many low mileage bone stock GT-R's out there for sale and if resale value on them stays anything like it is now well they are holding there value great. I paid MSRP on an early 09 at $74k for a premium car and they are now at between $84,720 for the base model and $87,720 for the premium. So no problem so far it's worth at least what I paid for it.

Hey my 07 Z06 was about the same price $73k and it's worth anywhere between $45 and & 50k. Any car will depreciate over time. Some more than others.

I think GTR's will hold their value exceptionally well. I'm just saying it seems like the GTR is extremely expensive to maintain in relation to it's price tag... brakes, tranny oil, ect. It seems like it's maintenance costs rival those of 1/2 million dollar cars. But hey... you've got to pay to play!

With all that being said I absolutely love the GTR and I definitely can see myself having one in the distant... possibly near future

Wanderer: Whats up buddy?!

Listen, not trying to sound like a jerk cuz you know me, I'm not!!

But I have seen way more than 520awhp ON PUMP GAS out of those kits and as high as 630awhp on race fuel. I believe SSP has one in the 630awhp and hitting 134mph. Not bad but still, at 580awhp at around 128mph, it's about on par with a Z06 from a roll. From the line, well, yarolsav's video shows that if the Z06 leaves on a bad day, the GTR's trans. is going to keep accelerating and hard to catch...

Samething happens when you are in the faster car and give the other car the hit... you know you'll catch but it will take more time to do so.

That's true SSP was running no exhaust and C16 and has all the bells and whistles of Wanderer's car to boot. Kenny says that car has a 10.20@136-137mph the way it sits in cooler weather......still not a fan of no exhaust and c16.
