I haven't, but weight sounds like the best reason to me.

Only reason I can see is weight. At the limits of our intake manifold flow u would loose way less than 10 hp going thru the stock mufflers. About 3 years ago I lost 4 hp at the 559rwhp level by closing my cut-outs and running through the stock cat-back. My car has always run a cat-less x-pipe.

44lbs??!!!! Wow, now that is worth the upgrade. But for maybe the katech catback or something you quite down with the NPP feature, just with smaller mufflers of course.

Actually... the exhaust is the only thing I haven't changed for performance. It sounds and works well for my monster.

With the option to switch it open with the mild to wild switch, I have no problem with the factory exhaust....but to each his own...

For me, the stock exhaust was way to quiet both open and closed. I also think aftermarket exhaust looks better on the car.

many people change the exhaust because it sounds soo much better than stock! Sure the stock sounds great but aftermarket systems such as corsa sound absolutely amazing. Its louder as well. You tell me why after watching!
heres an example:

i had NPP on my 08 coupe, sounded great IMO with the valves open. i think it would sound as good if not better on a Z. with all these traction issues i'd say you need the weight back there

Cost of different exhaust not worth the change in sound. I'm more than satisfied with the stock exhaust.

Definitely the Corvette tax at work. My last Mustang's (04 Cobra) exhaust was less than half of what the same manufacturer wants for the Z.

she sounds red?

Borla's on my Z, I did it for;
1) Looks
2) Sound (As that's all a cat-back will do on this car)
3) Weight
4) Sound
5) Looks
6) Because I could

Same with the lower end GM cars
I spent $740 for a complete Borla Cat-back setup for my 04 GTO.
pretty much x2 for the vette.
