Actually it is normal procedure for the car to have to go through an examination by the DMV before it can be issued a salvage title in NYS. The form shown above is the paperwork necessary to have the initial examination to determine whether or not the car is road worthy and will be deemed safe enough to warrant a title at all. Airbags will be checked with receipts (must be brand new) and the car will be gone over thoroughly by salvage inspectors before allowing it to return to the roads. It is a normal procedure here in NYC. So depending on the condition of the car will determine whether or not this car is worthy of the money asked.

With all the electronics on any modern car, a flood could leave numerous electrical problems that might be difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose and correct.
Also, it appears that the title indicates both airbags and body have sustained damage. Possibly an accident where the car went into a river or other body of water???
I'd avoid this one unless you plan to part it out. My $0.02.

the car is worth about 20 K and unless your damn good with electronics don't bother.
flood cars are starting to show up more and more you will have to replace the entire interior for just a start you can never get the smell out of the carpet/jute that they use for linking and every single connection has to be taken apart , cleaned and treated with dielectric compound. then you may still have to replace any sensor that is available... also. check the oil and trans if they look of color or milky at all it's been in the engine/drive train and nothing is salvagable from the car that makes it worth more than 10,000.

C notes & you are korekt!!!! Just playin with you siggi-annette, but honestly becareful sometimes if you know exactly what is wrong with the car & you have a good & cheap repair shop & plan on modding the car like crazy this could be away to go just make sure you inspect the hell out of it first! But the price is way high for a salvaged title

Are you guys Detectives ?
I want all of you to think about this for a moment in today's economy .
Lets call the owner Doctor Zero . Lets call his Z06 Betsy .
Doctor Zero is having a difficult time paying his mortgage , his Amex bill , his girlfriends Lexus convertible , his Ferrari and his weekend ride " Betsy " . He decides to call his old college roommate " Nick " who grew up on the other side of the train tracks and offers him $ 1000 to wet the car ( deep six - sink - drown ) 6 weeks go by , the insurance company pays off the car and state law requires that a " Salvage " title is issued . No more $ 2000 payments for Doctor Zero . Just maybe , it was fresh water which is not so bad for a few years ownership . Just remember , the price they are asking is not etched in stone so make an offer and enjoy the ride . As with any high dollar purchase ,check it out , it may be a great buy and it may not . Dont let message board Mavens control your mind or your money .

Flood cars can be good cars...but they can also be nightmares...the problem is you don't know which one it's going to be for a few years...water could be in the tranny, diff...and neither have been serviced before driving it in this case...electronics could corrode and have serious problems in future years...
For 43k...I'd pass.

That car might have got wet but It wasnt a total submersion.
I have seen a car get wet enough that just the carpets got wet as in the water made it through the bottom of the doors, Now what would that really damage??
nothing really but the insurance company totaled the car out and it ended up being parted out at one of the larger corvette salvage yards.
You cant take what any insuarance agent writes about a car you need to look at the car yourself. This car would cost to much to make work and everything is working thats not a clean up job it probably never got wet or very little was wet.
But I still wouldnt spend that much on it with the branded title
