We are using the stock LS7 oil pump but we are going to closely monitor oil flow and see how it does with the squirters.

Hi Jim,

This is our 08 Z06 that we have only used for one trip to NY and back, and as a template for our Beehive project.

The idea behind this build is my 48 year quest to run alcohol in an engine on the street. I think the time is right to run E85 exclusively in our area, and many states throughout the midwest. There are hundreds of stations that carry the fuel. On the way home from Albuquerque, NM a couple stations carried it off the freeways. We didn't map them but my Escalade loves the E85 and Z06 timing I put into the ECM.

I get 27.5 mpg with E10 in our Z06 and expect 22 with E85.

E85 is cheap Racing Fuel. $1.79/gal and 105 Native Octane. This allows the high 12:1 static CR and much more aggressive timing than the factory puts in the gasoline version.

We are migrating to EFI Live hardware and software, since they provide the actual FlexFuel tables for the E38 ECM from the Z06, which should allow us to "turn on" FlexFuel with a simple programming change. GM no longer uses an azmuth sensor in the gas tank, but relies on the fill up to trigger the O2 sensors to decide if E85 or some percentage of ethanol is in the fuel and adjust the pulsewidth accordingly. It takes 60 seconds of run time for the adjustment. Injector sizing in the ECM will be set up also. Going back to E10 will still work, but EFI logging will determine a compromise timing setting for both fuels. For the track we can kick it up a knotch.

Fuel delivery will be stock, except for the 65# FAST injectors. The fuel pump should be fine up to 650 HP, at which time I suspect it would be at 100% duty cycle with the larger injectors.

We will be running the LSX intake manifold when it is ready, and expect a substantial bump in power from that mod.

NOS might be next, with a small 100HP Shot. This would only be used in emergency mode. (You know what I mean) Flat tire refills....
The 116 LSA cam will not make as much power as the 110 LSA grind, but we are looking for perfect street manners and need to keep my Debbie happy with a smoother less titty-bump-bump when she is in the car.

Jason might decide to try dyno testing the SA500 cam from the 500 cid motor, but it would lose even more power, with no overlap at all.

We have one more surprise coming in this build. When Jason is ready to announce it, I think there will be lines for this mod.

I should have the car back soon and will be at the Autobahn. See you there!

WOW! As usual, a bunch of info and straight answers. I can't wait to see it and watch it run. I think it is the wave of the future and you guys are on the leading edge. I am counting the days to Track Attack and seeing you and the gang again. Is Debbie coming to Track Attack? My wife is.

As always, thanks for the info.

Jim

Why not use the LS9 pump? How much oil do your oil squirters flow vs GM's?

There is a lot of oil pump stuff up in the air right now. We're trying to make sense of it and get some data.

Would this be a good cam for supercharging?
Torquer LS7 but on a 116LSA

Yes. This is actually the same cam we used in the Air Attack twin turbo.

Actually, this engine could be SC, but the 9:1 pistons would be a better pick.

Running Ethanol, you can run 12:1 CR, but only with low boost around 6 PSI.

Bingo!

My wife stopped using my Z06 (maybe a good thing) with the heavy lope of the Torquer Cam. I loved it, she did not.

The idea behind this build is to smooth out the lumpity lump a little, increase the power with static compression ratio and ethanol, and bring around the same power to the table as before. This package would likely make the EPA very happy as well. We'll see.

Now add the new LSX manifold and Killer Bee combo, and you have Beeutiful performance, with every day drivability, and race fuel cheaper than regular.
