When is Bowling Green Re-starting Production?
Anyone heard when the factory is currently scheduled to re-open?
I had heard mid February or first week in March.
Sounds like there are still lots of Vettes on Dealer lots.
(My ZR1 was supposed to be in the January schedule, before they decided to take the extended shutdown).

The declines were 49 percent at GM, the largest U.S. automaker; 40 percent at Ford and 55 percent for Chrysler LLC. Toyota dropped 32 percent, Honda Motor Co. fell 28 percent and Nissan Motor Co. was down 30 percent.

I believe it is possible the opening may be delayed again.
I have been tracking Jeffhardy.com. In the last 10 days, there have been total USA vette sales of 272 units. Annualized (since this is winter there is obviously a slowdown), this represents under 10,000 units a year. As of this morning, there are over 8,500 new vettes sitting on dealer lots.
Why would you start production in a month or so if you do not have a substantial sales pickup. It would make no sense to increase unsold inventory.

According to my local dealer here in Florida, the Corvette plant re-opened this week and they are now producing Corvettes again.
I was in for a minor adjustment and spoke with my salesman while waiting. I learned they just sold their second ZR1 @ $24,999 over sticker, and he said they had 2 more on order that they should be receiving soon. That's when I learned the plant had re-opened.
He said they also have four ZO6s on order.

The salesman is incorrect. "Automotive News" is the dealer and industry's biggest trade publication. I shows the status of all GM plants as well as others. I stated that Feb. 22 is the official date they are closed until. This status could change any time but not today. Sales people mean well but we all know they are mistaken at times. They have no way of knowing nor are they really involved in factory business. I'll bet that if you "google" the plant you can get a status somewhere.
I just bought an '09 ZO6 that was built in December, so they know I wasn't looking for another car. The conversation started when I asked where their ZR1 was that had been on display.

Drifting
When does bg open again
As of Yesterday- on Feb 23 some of the workers are coming back to realighn the Line......Most of the workers return March 2nd with the first vettes coming off line around March 6th....Remember 2 Things though---production is being reduced to 88 a Day and the Lost Production of ZR1s for 2009 will not be made up this Year..........My own PERSONAL OPINION though is that there is a chance this opening could be further delayed--but I hope not.....These Dealers who are promising new ZR1s this month are smoking something....the only AVAILABLE ZR1s are Dealer swaps or s few that GM is holding on to and not giving them to Dealers who are having Floor Plan Problems........
