Greed, isn't this what got all of Wall Street into financial doo doo? There are no more Wall Street Investment banks anymore. The landscape has totally changed and I have no sympathy for them. The same could happen to the auto industry. Sh?t flows downstream.

My job takes me all over south Florida and when I have time between appointments I often stop into Chevy dealers to see what is up. I am also an employee of a GM subsidiary.

I have seen two ZR-1s in two different dealers in the last two days that are sitting on the floor unsold, one had $75,000.00 added and the other had $80,000.0 added.

The good news is that they are/were unsold. I have been hearing about a number of unsold ZR1's waiting for buyers. Leads me to believe that the long line of buyers willing to fork over the big markups is not as long as we thought. The talk before the actual release was that all the dealerships had long lists of buyers and deposits. Sounds like a bunch of buyers must have come to their senses and decided to wait or their were never long lists in the first place. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Last week, Sport Chevrolet in Silver Springs MD, unveiled a red ZR1. they tried a "silent bid" with a reserve of 129K. The manager said " tonite, someone here will have bought this car". There were about 60 of us that came to see it. Those who didn't make it to Carlile got an up close look at her. It was stunning. As I was leaving Sport and drove off the lot in my 04, my plastic front spoiler scraped the ground, and I thought "WOW", who ever bought this car and plans on driving it out of her will have order a brand new front carbon fiber spoiler ($1500.00) and the side ones before he/she ever gets it home. We've already heard stories about ZR1 on fle-bay for 135k, 155k. I have owned 7 corvettes since I attracted the fever, IMO this car is made for Sebring, Watkins Glen, or on that day when the close I-95S. Just one guys opinion. Never heard if Sport Chevrolet actually sold the ZR1, they are getting an alotment of 3.

Don't worry - the $700B government bail-out program will fix EVERYTHING.

The OP hit the nail on the head.

There are more unsold ZR1's on ebay than R8, Viper ACR, GT2, GT3, GTR ....you get the point.

This is based on new cars that the reserve has not been met (basically not sold)

Let see what happens in another month or two.

Get notified of new replies

To I think there will be lots full of unsold ZR'1 in a few weeks

Really? How is that, his original post said there would be lot's full of unsold ZR1's available at MRSP or slightly higher RIGHT NOW? I wouldn't exactly say he hit it right on the head, in fact I wouldn't even say he made contact.

I say now there will be a lot of unsold ZR1 sitting on the dealers lots as delivery starts because the dealers won't get the high markup they are hoping for and it will take them a while before realizing that.
