John, I may need to come see you and let you check it out! I took it for a short spin last night before the bottom fell out and it's running good as new, I just don't want this to be a continueing and returning problem. I don't know much about timing, tuning, or air/fuel ratios on new cars, i'm more familiar with old school tuning, carbs, caps, rotor buttons. I may just do some mods and get it tuned!

Sure thing Andy. This Saturday I'll be up at Lake Sinclair with the Corvette Club but I should be home Sunday if you want to get together then.

Thanks man, i'll keep in touch before the weekend and we can try and get together! I'd like to get her running like yours.....this thing is a snail compared to yours.......can't imagine what the tuning did for you!

Maybe we can gather some helpful infomation and get it back to these guys.

I have 6k on my car, bone stock 08 with no issues.

I think this sounds like a sensor problem to me. Maybe you can ask the dealer to replace a bunch of sensors?
Maybe start with just the IAT, MAF? While you're at it, ask for a new fuel filter too haha.

If it is a sensor, shouldn't the CEL come on??

Only if the sensor is giving out-of-range readings. Sometimes the MAF will give inaccurate readings for a variety of reasons (dirt), but within the anticipated range, so engine performance degrades but no DTC's are set and no CEL.

That would be awesome if you were able to find something. Please do post if you find something. By the way I am leaning towards it being heat related, I did a little drive this morning when the temp was in the late 70's and the car felt awesome and another drive this afternoon with the temps around 100 and it was doing the same things as previously discussed.

I went for a ride yesterday afternoon, it was around 80 degrees here and the car ran perfect.....i'm starting to think it is temp. related also! Drove around for about an hour and ran strong the entire time!

I've had it for almost 3 years now. It is only noticeable after 6k rpm after a few pulls. And really start to notice in 3rd then 4th very obvious. 1st & 2nd fast as hell. Do to these conditions it is impossible to duplicate with the dealer mechanic in the car. The problem is never noticeable on the street here where i live because of traffic. The track however is not fun anymore.

That's exactly what I have. If I can't figure it out, it's time to sell the car. If I wanted a 400 horse car, I'd get something else.

This is probably why there was no more answers on here, but the car just got better. It's pulling hard all the way to redline now, even in 3rd and 4th, with no pinging like before. It must have been a bad tank of gas or something similar. The beast is back, thank goodness.

Did any one figure out what is causing this? I have the same problem in my 07 Z06, first the dealer told me its the o2 sensor, than it was the CATS and from some other threads I read they claimed its the alternator. I replaced them all but I am still loosing power over 4k rpm. If anyone has figured this out please help.

When valve springs are "tired", valve float can cause a sudden loss of power at higher rpms; and no DTC.

Good luck

I hope its not the valve spring, is there any easy way to check them or I got to open up the intake? If valves spring are weak I think there should be some ticking noise. Do you agree?

Bringing this one back..

My 06, 44k, heads, cam, mf103, stock exhaust; was going flat over 5k on its last drive. Running fine everywhere else, and no CEL - but over 5k (even at lighter throttle) the exhaust note goes flat and boomy and power isn't there. Those behind me said it was going really rich as well (out the tail pipes visibly).

My guess was fuel or dirty maf etc. I haven't messed with it yet - but any thoughts?

Thanks gents
