Oil Sheiks
I'm surprised that some Oil Sheik hasn't gobbled up some of the allocations on the ZR1's.
Wouldn't that just p_ss off a bunch of people.
I just read where one of them paid $14 million for a license plate #1

A license plate bearing simply the number "1" fetched what organizers said was a world record $14 million at a charity auction in Abu Dhabi on 16 February 2008. The price paid by A wealthy Abu Dhabi businessman Saeed Abdel Ghaffar Khouri, 25, beat a record set by one of his relatives in September. The record has been submitted to the Guinness World Records book, the organizers said.
"It is not huge compared to my family's fortune," Saeed Khouri said after bidding 52.2 million Dirhams (14.2 million dollars) for an Abu Dhabi license plate "I bought it because it's the best number," said Khouri, whose family made its fortune in real estate. "I bought it because I want to be the best in the world."
At least the money goes to a worthy charity... Proceeds from the auction will fund construction of a specialized emergency hospital in the seven-member United Arab Emirates.

The only good thing is that the 14 mil is going to a charity. I wished all these rich oil sheiks would consider helping their Arab neighbours with their huge wealth which they made from us. But I guess bidding on a license plate, gold plating their homes, spending their $$ recklessly etc.. is more of a priority. And of course the regular hard working tax payer reponsible for building/paying humantarian aids to less the fortunates on this planet.
This is what you say more $ than brain?

As ugly and rich as some of those guys are, they are still human and have the same problems as everyone else, if not worse. Yes, worse, that much money will certainly corrupt. For as much abuse as the US gets from all over the world and from itself, let's take a look at what is going on elsewhere sometimes...

Did one guy bought an A380 airbus for his own personal use? And you read that some of them gold plated their homes as such? That's a good example of abused..
A yathch, fine cars, a masion, cacation homes, private jet, etc.. is not enough for these guys to live comfortably?

the man who bought the number he is not sheik
he is just one of the "billionaire" people in uae
sheiks can have any number without paying anything
but the sheiks did the auction to let those greedy people
pays to help the need people

If the license plate auction helps those in-need, than this is a good thing. Who cares, in this case, where the money came from, and the intentions of the person that spent it?

So, you're not "biased"?
I'm not say in this case, I don't know. But yes, sometimes where the money comes from does matter!

I promise if I make one I will get you one. At present, I reproduced your (Avitar) picture (thank you) with the caption underneath "What Me Worry". I want my "comrades" to know how excited I am that Communism and Socialism are still alive and warn the Capitalist "pigs" their time is coming.
However, my one regret is that the Corvette Forum will probably be abandoned, given that no one in the old Soviet Union could ever afford a C6, let alone a ZR1. On the other hand I suspect the "Yugo Forum" will celebrate?
