The August issue of Car & Driver has another Z06 review. One of the comments is from a test driver regarding the interior smelling of curing resin "like driving a body shop". It has an acrid resin odor. Well, all of you guys that complained..you have company. A major auto magazine is given a test car that has the same problem. Oh, boy..now what?

I saw that and was curious what GM plans on doing about the problem. My wife refused to get in my car for the first month. It has gone away, but I do remember having a cold shortly after getting my car and being in it with the windows up for a long drive.

same. my very early '08 only had the normal new car smell. i am sensitive to bad air kind of things and would have noticed.

It at least seems to be limited to certain vehicles. My 2007 didn't have it at all. My 2008 is so strong that it literally makes you sick while driving.

In my personal case, I've found that with the windows down that it's actually worse. I think because it's circulating the air past you as it swirls around in and out of the car.

i didnt have any smell in my early 08 but i bought it after it had been at the dealer for 6mo. but my uncle's, which he bought the same day was only a couple weeks old and was a 3lt and it did smell noticably different. kinda a strong smell, i wouldnt compare it to a body shop tho.

Mine does not smell like a body shop...more like a chemical lab...

Obviously the magazine got one of the ones affected.

This is not an issue that affects ALL 2008's...but it "seems" that the ones affected are only 08's. The buy-backs from GM have been 08's thus far, and the bulletin was issued on April 28, 2008.

You guys with the "mild" new smell and with the "non-issue" cars, should feel VERY fortunate.

Do you know of any correlation between the smelly ones and whether its a 1, 2 or 3LZ option package?

not as of yet...but I think the 2LZ is the most popular package thus probably carry more units than the other 2...I am willing to bet that the magazine car is also a 2lz

I read that article today. All I can say is, when I got my 2002 MY coupe brand new in 02....it would stink of plastic so bad that your eyes literally watered. It stunk right up until the day I sold it.

From the photo in C & D, it looks like a 2LZ package, no two tone seats or leather dash. BTW, they trash the car against the Nissan GT-R, Viper ACR and Porsche 911 GT2. It finished 4th in a 4 car test. This is the same magazine that loved it in the past. Take their reviews with a grain of salt.

No shirt, Sherlock. I "stole" my new black '08 Z06 a month ago. It had been sitting under an awning at the dealer for five months, and it STILL reeks of plastic/solvent/bug poison. My '05 C6 was just as bad, by the way. Wanna know what my car smells like? Soak your head with WD-40, and then shrink wrap it.

My 07 has a mild smell yet my sister got in it for the first time the other day and within 1 minute it triggered a migraine headache. Needless to say she will never own a Corvette. I felt terrible about it. I smell it but it is not overwhelming to me. She says people who suffer migraines have different triggers. Some it is light others it is a smell. I can see the lawyer adds now 10 years from now.......if you ever owned a C6 Corvette and have suffered health issues....

I just fart a lot to counter attack the cars smell. Makes it smell like a robot farted in my car.
