Default New to me 2007 Z06 VY w/ 7095 miles

I just bought a one owner VY 07 Z06. All stock except the Corsa Extreem's coming out of the rear. This is by far the finest auto I have ever owned.
Going over it with a fine tooth comb, I noticed that it has 2k miles to go for an oil change. Also noticing the oil tank on the passenger side, I thought I might ask just a quick question.
Does one change the oil in the same manner? Raise car on lift, remove drain plug and filter, re-install plug and new filter, lower lift and add oil? In the tank?
Does the sump, side tank, or any other aspect of this oil system pose any special attention? (how many quarts to fill?)

I'll have more questions down the road. I noticed the power band is significantly different than my wifes 08 with NPP. Her power comes in strong at mid range. I need to get some more time behind the wheel in order to ask intelegent questions about the torque curve comparison.

Oil?
Thanks,

Congrats on the new ride!!! The procedure to change the oil is not so different then the usual car. Checking the oil requires some waiting after running the car. But it is covered in the owners manual... you should read that to be sure you know. The oil capacity is 8 quarts, though most guys put in 7.5 to prevent oil ingestion through the oil breather line to the intake. Enjoy the car!!!

Pretty much same proceedure. Like stated above, read your manual and also do a search here for similar oil changing threads. 7.5 quarts seems to be the max.
Main difference is that there are two (2) drain plugs that need to be removed. Mine were non magnetic and I swithched them out for the magnetic plugs.

Ah yes, the manual. 2 drain plugs, 7 1/2 quarts I'll get comfortable and get to reading. The previous owner left everything in the car. The big black advertising envelope (still in the plastic wrap) the manual, map, all the GM stuff in the glove box etc.

I know you guys know what I'm feeling

Does this krazy grin ever come off my face, or what.
I feel like a 55 year old little kid. I just stand and stare with this S*^# eating Grin. I've owned 17 Vette's in my time and non have affected me like this one.

Thanks for the responses!

I've owned 18 others and the Z06 is by far tops in all categories...except maybe for the gee-whiz electric doors and trendy push-button start! Bring back the ignition key!!!!!!

Oh, and be careful when you punch it, especially if it's cold outside!!!

Default Congrats!

Congratulations on the new Z!
It is by far the best one yet.

Be sure not to add all the oil at once. Hold back a half a quart and then go through the check oil level procedure and add as necessary. You don't want to over fill.

Enjoy the new ride. We love our VY 07 Z as well...it's a super color on a great car.

Enjoy, you have the greatest bowtie ever created.
Oil Changes: 7.5+ quarts, 2-drain plugs to remove, lift the oil line to get all the oil out when you change it. Read the owners manual about checking the oil level, it's a little different than most other cars. Welcome to the club, it's a great ride.

That's the way to do it... if I had one and had a company gas card... mine would have 3500 in a month
