Default z06 Poser's Car Burns in Miami

saw a 2005 c6 that was "slammed" as low as it could go w/ headers, apparently the headers were too close to the hyraulic lines (?) and the whole engine bay caught fire trashing the engine bay, hoses, plastics and even the engine was out of the car. The fire wall was even damaged. The dude has z06 badges and panels but it's an '05 LS2. So far insurance is paying, the dealer said he has 80 hrs into it and everything is still out of the car! I didn't take any fotos because it was pretty much cleaned up just w/ an empty engine bay.

Why does this guy have to be a "poser?"

Maybe he simply couldn't afford that Z that we are fortunate enough to own?

What he is saying it's like a person with a V6 Camaro but the person puts Z28 on the side=Poser
Money has nothing to do with it.

That was the very definition of a poser ..... thats why. Not trying to start a crap throwing event ... that's just the facts.

I don't care if somebody does a body conversion... Hell, I'm trying to convince my friend to do it. However, don't label the car as something it's not. It's just as bad as the idiots who throw a Type R sticker on anything and everything.

it's one thing to buy the fenders and nose, but it's another thing entirely to go ahead and put the badges on. Isn't a "poser" defined as "a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not". If You don't have a real z06 don't put the badges on! I saw this car before the fire at the dealership and the damn fenders were over the wheels, it looked ridiculous--I thought fifty-cent was coming to pick it up for his next video! Not trying to be mean but when you don't research your mods and act on a whim bad things can happen.

I agree - if you want to convert a base C6 to look like a Z06, its your car, happy modding. The instant you put a Z06 badge on the base C6 you are a poser.

even if the work is great, and you can't tell the difference (until you open the hood) you are still pretending to be something you aren't with the badge. Honestly if someone were to come up to you and say "whoa! nice Z06 man!" are you going to stop them and be honest and say "oh no no no, I don't have a Z06 this is just a regular corvette made to look like one"

The "Z06" is a complete package of performance, materials, and setup. Yes you can get a base C6 up to Z06 power levels but its not all about power and torque. I like having the complete package so I saved my money and bought a Z06

At the end of the day it doesnt really matter - I know what I have is the real deal. One who does the Badge replacement... cool for you; it's your car so you can put anything you want on it. I personally look down on the poser thing though. Every one of use will laugh if we see a rice burner with a GT-R badge on it, thing about that when you decide to slap a Z06 badge on a regular vette. You are literally doing the same thing.

Wow, now I see why most folks think vette drivers are azzholes.

What a shame. Such an elitist attitude. I'd expect that from Lambo, Porsche, and Ferrari drivers... But here? Just wow.

There's nothing "elitist" about what we are saying. we just don't appreciate cars being misrepresented.

Anyhow the REAL takehome message of the thread was supposed to be about how aftermarket headers and a very low vehicle can cause problems. I hadn't heard of this b4 and thought it was worthwhile posting it, so others could avoid the hazard

I'm not an elitist....I'm just a simple bum that drives a Z06

ursloow,

It would be great if we could find out which brand of headers the car had on it. I personally don't know of any (LG, SW, or Kooks) that dip below the lowest point of the car

I will try to find out, remember the car was lowered so much that the fenders covered almost the whole top of the tires. that had more to do with the fire. The best corvette tech at the dealership said that the fire may have had something to do with the headers being some of the first on the market for the c6 cars

How else can you fit 13" tires in the rear?

He IS a poser because he puts Z06 badges in a car that is NOT a Z06.

That is almost verbatim the definition of "POSER".

So, because he modded his car in an un-approved manner, it's just fine that a fellow Corvette owner's car burned down. After all, he sinned! He's a POSER!

c'mon man, you've been here longer and have more posts than the vast majority of folks here. dont make it sound like you're just entering the corvette culture....

you know well that many object to misrepresenting/mis-badging your car here.

I think it's definitely shovin' it to put the badges on.

But I mean this has been beat to a pulp and I'm seeing more and more of these poser threads. It's really driving a stake between C6 guys and C6Z06 guys which is a shame imho. Forum should be fun and a place to share information about mods and stuff. Not bash each other for their decisions.

Just my .02

He might as well put Ferrari badges on it.
