[Z06] New 07 vs 08 Z06

New 07 vs 08 Z06
Hey guys, looking for some opinions here. It's about time to make my purchase. Local dealer is ordering a 08Z (dealer order, not a customer order) a 1LZ package. It's due in 1st or 2nd week of June. Looking around my area, I found a 2007, same color, with the NAV, polished rims, etc. It is brand new...10 miles believe it or not. Both are within $1000 of each other.
In your opinion, is the new tranny, the faux carbon fiber, and the wait of another few weeks worth the slight increased price of the 08?
I appreciate any thoughts guys!

get it from a different dealer and have it shipped. I was able to pay GMS on a new 08 z06 locally. But there are definetely dealers probably not too far from you, you could get awesome pricing on an 08.

Who cares about depreciation. It's not an investment anyway.
A fully loaded 07 is a better option in my opinion. You won't notice things like interior looks but chrome wheels and a nav system will definitely be noticeable. In 3-4 years, the year model wouldn't matter much in terms of value.

It's definitely worth the increase in cost. Last year, I was in the same boat as you...buy an 07 or wait a few weeks for an 08...I should have just waited for the 08.

Its sort of a toss up and I don't think you can go wrong either way. Its going to come down to which features are most important to you.
With the 2008 1LZ you are getting the improved steering feel and new TR6060 transmission if those are important to you.
But a 1LZ Z06 is a stripped Z06.
If the '07 is a 2LZ and was not built between January and June of '07, I'd go for it. Though the NAV I can take or leave.
The 1LZ is a turnoff for me. No tilt telescoping wheel, no heated seats, seats are different, no memory option and I could be wrong on this one, but I believe no homelink.
If you like the '08 carbon fiber console, that can easily be added to the '07, I put an '08 console into my '06, ran me just over $400.00.
But like I say, you can't go wrong with either one. But I'd avoid a Jan '07- June '07 build date due to a possible rocker issue.

Thanks for the input guys. Still debating here, but the newer Tr6060 is fairly important for me...I loved my T56, don't get me wrong, but I like what I've heard about the new ones. My biggest concern is obviously the performance of a Z06. I think I'd prefer the 2LZ package a little more, but the only thing I really want from the 2LZ is NAV, and from what I've heard, the aftermarket NAV's are a better bang for the buck. By the way, what is "homelink," and the "univeral home remote" thing?

It is a system of three buttons now located on the driver's side
sunvisor. You can program each of the buttons to control a
garage door opener or some other electronic device - ie. exhaust
valve controller.
BTW - the stock NAV is the weakest link IMHO. My after market
TomTom is way better. Besides, I think you only need it when
you are far from home. I'll bet 99% of the time you know where
you are going!
