[ZR1] Propose a Better System

Propose a Better System
I survived the last round of whining about dealer mark-ups with the C6 Z06 introduction. And here we go again, all of the same posts and rants are about to be resurrected here. Oh, and in 2005 I paid a little more than MSRP for my '06 - zero regrets today.
Paying more for what you want, when you want it is completely American. Someone profits along the way. Here, it's gonna be the dealers. And while it's unnatural to actually "like" car dealerships, we're stuck with them until the factories figure out a better system - like letting us order what we want online.
It's never been a better time to buy a new Z06 for below MSRP, but I don't see too many dealers here whining about how "unfair" it is that they can't sell their inventory for the price that GM recommends. Maybe ZR1 prices will quickly follow the same trend.
But while we're waiting, what fairer system would you propose to sell the first ZR1s as they arrive at dealerships? Would it be "first come first serve" at MSRP? A lottery? A list based on customer loyalty?

Free enterprize is the perfect system (for the human condition) letting the market determine what people will pay is just fine by me, even if it drives the price of things I want out of my realm of ownership.
This type of economy is what keeps things in competition and only servs to propel us in our quest to be the best.
As far as I'm concerned anything else would be socialism at the very least..........which will dampen the desire to excel.
So let the cry babies vote for Hillary.......she will make it all "Fair" for them.

I do not mind allowing loyalty take precedent over market forces. The only condition is that you paid msrp for every car you bought in the past. In this situation, everyone knows the price and make up their own mind. Other than that, let the biggest spender win every time.

The dealers are going to set the price based on "supply & demand" ... simple as that. If you had a somewhat rare commodity to sell that many people wanted to buy wouldn't you do the same thing to make as much profit as possible? ... or would you just sell it to the first guy that came along and offered you way less than 99 other guys were willing to pay more for it?

If GM won't build enough cars to meet the demand the mkt. will, as always, adjust. If GM goes forward, as it appears they will, with limited production a lot of us who were waiting for a $100k Covette will make the adjustment to something else. The loser will be GM. Not us.
GM didn't get in the financial predicament they find themselves in making real good decisions!! Will it even dawn on them that the mkt. for a $100K+ vette is much larger than they thought?? I doubt it.

I have no problem with a free market system, that promotes survival of the fittest. Anything less insures undermines our financial integrity as well as our gene pool. Just couldn't resist after watching Obama bowl Hillary drinnk. Best
