Default Question about DIC and oil change

I'm down to about 10% left on my oil life. Does the display go to 0%? What message is displayed, if any?

Once you get low enough, it will continuously display that you need to change your oil. I forgot the % part...I am sure somebody knows.

Just curious - How many miles do you have on the oil?

I changed my oil at 1200 miles and reset the DIC. I now have 7100 miiles. So 6000 miles roughly equates to 100% oil life depending on how it's driven. I've read that the oil life algorithm uses RPM and Oil Temperature to calculate life remaining. My car is a daily driver in town and on the highway. One track day and 1000 mile trip on this oil change. I noticed when cruising on the highway, the oil life only changed 2% in 1000 miiles!

Mobil 1 and other synthetics in German Cars can go 10-12k miles before a change is required.....I'd say 6000 miles is pretty conservative, which is why I'll wait fo the nag message.

I have 3450 on my oil and I'm at 58%, ~82 miles per. You're only getting around 65. It sounds like you had fun at track that day

Maybe it's not linear .

I don't think it is linear at all. I first changed my oil in my Z at around 6K miles with more than 50% remaining. Then we went on an 8500 mile road trip (obviously mostly highway driving) and upon return the DIC still said I had almost 40% oil life remaining. I changed it again anyway, but apparently highway driving gives you lots of oil life.

From the Owner's Manual:

When the system has calculated that oil life has
been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is
necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will come
on. Change the oil as soon as possible within the
next 600 miles (1 000 km).
