For an additional car. I would get a 911 Turbo convertible.
The Z is already a performer. The 911 Turbo convertible is a hot looking car for the summer and it holds it's value.
The GTR is good for 4 seats but I would rather have a good looking CLS AMG for that. Unless, I had to have 1 car with 4 seats and top performance, than maybe the GTR. Then again, why not wait for the RS5. That should have looks and good performance.

That's my dad's. Really beautiful car. I got some seat time in it when I went to visit. It doesn't have the raw power of my Z, but it sure is a sweet ride.

He lives in NC and that pic was taken when I visited in Feb. It wasn't "top down" weather just yet. I am going back down in April, so I will get a few then. I'm trailering my boat, but my brother is following me in his '07 LB Z. We should be able to do some comparisons of the two cars.

C&D reports a 1/4 mile time of 11.5 and a trap speed of 124 mph!!!!!This is 7.5 miles per hour faster than R&T's test: 11.8 and 116.5 MPH. WTF is going on. The magazines post almost identical times but the huge variance in trap speeds raises more questions....Did the 2 magazines test two different cars? Are these cars specially prepared?

C&D: 0-60 in 3.3, 60 to 120 in 7.9
1.4 seconds faster in C&D's test? Hmm R&T must have missed a gear... oh wait...
edit: "engineering mule" according to C&D's article. salt please.

This is why I suggested our Test.
In the real world this is likely 2-3 Standard Deviations in variance.
And we buy this unacceptable science and enrich them for poor results.
I cannot comment on the car. Since I have one coming, I don't mind at all. But the reviews show such a wide range of outcomes as to make them all suspect. That is, no precision means no accuracy.

Now that the benchmark is the GT-R and not the 997 TT what will the Corvette Team do?
Will they go after the GT-R by improving the C6 Z06 suspension, tires and handling etc?
Or will they wait for the Z06 in the C7 generation to get the job done?

Yea Frank, and I would love to drive one to just feel what it's like compared to the Z06. Must be something else if the numbers are anything close to correct and I have no reason to doubt what they are writing. Another great car for someone!

Yes, yes, yes, the GTR is a wonderful car, and the Z06's only competition in the price range. Once again, this is only going to make the boys in Bowling Green work a little harder, and make an even better Z. Competition is a good thing. I have driven or owned many, many performance/supercar Japanese cars(obviously not the GTR yet), and so far, for me, none of them have had any personality...SOUL... No feedback, no combining of man and machine. Just machines that do what they do well, but without any sharing...any melding of flesh and machinery. I have already seen video footage and written text that indicates the same is true for the GTR according to those who have driven it.
Now, regarding the G...errr excuse me waitress...yes I ordered the soul, I mean Z06....Check please if you don't mind, the Z06 belongs to me, and I don't care if the GTR might actually be a little better at the business of statistics!
P.S: Drove the Z06 today, I have not had such a wonderful driving relationship with a car since my 996TT. What a car!!!
